totally agree. it's not an either or situation, you have to figure some of this out on the fly. and it's probably a whole lot harder than any of us will ever know. especially for a program like ours that is in rebuild mode.

i mean, uga nad bama and some others, they kinda have it easy for obvious reasons.

we have to be very "situationally aware", and understand that every situation is going to be different.

very delicate indeed.
Pruitt himself mentioned in the PC about learning from what “could have been done better”.

Man, go look at the 2017 class...

Take trey smith out of it Bc he may not play anymore...

There is like 4 players making any kind of an impact on the field and one is a kicker.

I’m sorry for ever saying a good word about butch.
you've had a rough week with your epiphanies on butch and willie.

but....you came around in the end. kudos. welcome to the club.

yeah, i saw that, and was actually impressed he addressed it. and i hate that we are having to learn some tough lessons, but it does make feel somewhat better that it's not lost on him either. it's kinda reassuring for us as fans when the coach not only sees similar things as we do, but then also will "admit it", for lack of a better term....i think you'll know what i mean there. lol.

self scout everything.

I believe AV is telling us the truth but we just have gotten pretty unlucky with recruits either changing their mind or just kinda trolling us.

Or taking money from our bagmen and then driving away in their Charger with Bama plates.

And it doesn't help that:

1) I think this staff truly thought this team was better than they were going into the season and were expecting better results. Certainly better than 5-7 and ending the season with a couple of embarrassing games that really took some of the wind out of the sails.

2) I hate to repeat anything the idiot barber said but Tennessee gained a reputation of not being truthful with recruits under Butch with some groups. I just have to wonder with Anderson being an NPA kid played any into us slow playing him to begin with knowing that once his commitment is accepted we can't afford to cut him loose if everything goes right and strain that relationship in the midstate again.

Which 3 are you including? Chandler, Jordan, Palmer?

on #1, i'd only say that all you ever heard from CJP was "we have a long way to go". it was the theme for the 2018 season. i don't ever remember getting the feeling that they thought they were better than they were. at times, it felt like the opposite actually. the blow out losses didn't help. fortunately we had the UK and Aub wins to at least help balance it out, and shows SOME progress.

on #2, i just don't think that you can hold this staff accountable for what the last staff did. and while we certainly didn't get every single guy we wanted, we got guys that CBJ and co. would hve never had a chance at. Wanya Morris in particular. he and his mother spoke on the differences between the two staffs and it is a stark difference. in fact, she said her son was NOT going to Tennessee at one point when CBJ was there. obviously with this staff in town, her tune changes, as well as his.

as for the slow play, i think there were some lessons to learn about how to manage parts of the class. i don't think we put our best foot forward in all cases here. Anderson and Brown are two kids we probably could have had, if we had acted earlier. that they are not VFL's today is on us, that much i do believe.

Also, I'm assuming we stay on the 3 commits that didn't sign today to try to keep them in the fold, while at the same time looking at who else didn't sign today(especially on the DL) and trying to flip a couple. It'll be interesting to see if some new names start to pop up.

We arent in a great situation but year 2 or 3 is generally the big improvement year. Must get a bowl game in 2019.
i think we will go to a bowl in 2019. and i think having a face of hte 2020 class in Bailey already on board will help tremendously for that class.

TN has an opportunity to nearly double it's win total from 2018 to 2019. we'll see if we can take advantage.

2018's class had 0 five stars and 8 four stars and ranked 21st with only 17 days to recruit before NSD part one and less than 2 months before NSD part 2.

2019's class with over a year to recruit 1 five star and 7 four stars and ranked 17th. Got a 5 star instead of a 4 star??

I trust Pruitt, but it seems like most of us were expecting a top 10 class and not the bottom half of the SEC with Miss St. I was hoping 3-4 more four stars. Are we not able to get these players because we were 5-7. Would we have been able to flip a few of these impact players had we gone 7-5??
thoughts???

Class isn’t over. Well land a 5* in Wright and have a great chance with Crouch oh yea and land Gray

i agree on keeping the current commits...that's a must i think.

as for flips, i don't know how many flip opportunites there will be, though i'm sure we'll find out over the next couple months.
the board reset should be interesting.

it's tight though. if we get remaining targets gray, wright and crouch and the rest of our committed players, there's only going to be, 3-4 spots to fill.

and if cox, henry or harris were to go elsewhere, could be very interesting to see how we finish. and it's not a foregone conclusion that they all stick. all three have other suitors, that really want them.

the works is not done for sure.
