Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

Missouri and Vandy have been whooping us with classes a lot softer than what we are signing this year. This dude is lighting it up for Mizzou, and he was a low-mid 3-star coming out (of our backyard, no less).

Give this staff some time and space. We’re not making the playoff next year, but we already knew that. Need to try to climb back up to our rightful place as a perennial top-3 team in the SEC East first, and classes like this can definitely do that.
They also aren’t winning championships look at the classes of those teams. Don’t settle

Jimbo is in a different stratosphere than Butch

Awful comparison
Not comparing them, comparing coaching and everybody gets giddy when he was at FSU and winning 10 games and have what to show for it. Beating this piss out of the weak ass ACC and then Clemson started curb stomping his ass all the time. Can recruit and will see

Before everyone jumps off a ledge with our swings for the fences today, we already have surpassed the 247 composite points from last year with only 21 current commits. If we were to add Wright, Crouch, Gray, we’d have 268.46. That would of been good for right around the 10th best class last year (and is currently around 10 this year).

Points:
2018 - 231.34 (22 commits)
2019 - 243.09 (21 commits)
2019 - 268.46 (add Wright, Crouch, Gray)

Not saying it's good enough or where we need to be... but it's where most thought we'd be. We'll sign the bulk of our class this week and it's going pretty much as expected. The big misses happened a few weeks ago, with Pappoe, Watson and Marshall. People got hyped last-minute for guys who weren't-- and never had been-- trending our way. Not getting Gray or Wright would be a bad surprise and signing Crouch will be a good one, but otherwise, it has been low-drama.
It wouldn't surprise me to whiff on all of those three, or sign all three. I don't think we get Crouch, but I think we get Gray and Wright...I hope.

The weakness of this staff is figuring out who they can REALLY secure and letting a few really good ones get away such as Anderson and K. Brown. Not upset with Means but he was a backup and trying to get guys like Pickens ect and not taking a K. Brown is frustrating. It's a good and solid class IF we secure Wright and better than what we thought if we get Crouch. However, we missed on higher targets we could've had because we shot for some guys who left us in their dust.

2020 is year zero for now. Things could change and that date might slip again at some point in the future but for now I think we should all try to remain optimistic.

And this would be fine but we have to get those three.

i think it's also worth nothing that being in on a kid doesn't mean anything other than we're a consideration.

in the end, there just wasn't much reason to believe eboigbe was going to come here. it would have been a surprise. he has been committed to bama for a while, he never ov'd, he visited tuscaloosa last weekend.....

on the tangible stuff, there definitely shoudl have been a "glad we're trying, but i dont' see it" type attitude. no matter what chatter was being put out there, none of it changed what had actually happened as far as his recruitment goes.

and in today's social media age and some recruit's need for attention, you just can't put much stock in what is being floated around on social media.

people think it's being negative. i just look at it as "what's the evidence say?". and while you can get your hopes up, just remember, they're hopes. (i got mine up too)

this class is going to finish a lot like many of us have thought....somewhere in the 12ish range, give or take.

it's not bad. and people will b**tch and moan today about what we DIDN'T get, but in a few days, or by February, we'll get back around to what we DID get. and realize, that it's pretty good.

it's a process though, and we'll just have to go thru the next few days whilie we get all the garbage off our chests.
:)

Cooler heads prevail.

When is the last time we've had a chance for three five stars? We already have one signed and a bunch of four stars. I don't think this is a bad class.
According to the 247 composite rankings, we haven't landed more than 1 since 2010. Darnell/Wanya are solid 5's, Crouch is right outside.

In the 247 team rankings, there are 2 teams in the top 15 that did not go bowling this year....FSU and UT. Yet everyone wants to b!tch about the recruiting failures.

We're ahead of OSU and UF, and others such as Stanford, USC, and Miami.

And after 5-7 and 4-8 seasons, a coaching search fiasco, and obnoxious social media fans.......

Smdh!!!
That is the biggest problem right there....

We were all making fun of UF and they have jumped us on the 247 recruiting rankings. Yay...

To be fair, you're opinion on who we could have got doesn't make it true.

Any fan that thinks this staff isn't putting in the work to recruit is completely blind.

I think we are so used to seeing underachievement that we expect at top 15 class to turn into a bottom 30 class by the time they are done. Let’s see if these coaches can develop top 15 talent into top 15 teams.
And I suppose we’re used to a lot of attrition as well.

Don't worry about the ones we don't get. Worry about the ones we do get.

Seriously y'all, we are bringing in some really good talent at positions of need. Let the coaches evaluate and bring in players that fit their mold, and let them develop them and do their job. Yes, it sucks missing on some of the high profile kids, but sometimes they think they are bigger than the team, and can cause problems. The 4 & 5 star players that we got seem to be respectful, and well rounded kids, not the flashy, look at me type of guys.

Respect the ones we get and support them.

This is a really good foundation class. Would have loved to have got a couple today, but I'm not disappointed with what we have. These players will work for Pruitt.

Pruitt and staff going through some growing pains- slow playing guys that want to commit then end up having to take lesser players than the guys they were slow playing.

Gonna have to find a balance in recruiting + win on the field
This right here is what has disappointed me with these guys and I don't think we get in top 10. That's what I am waiting to see and if not, then they better look better on the field. I am still not totally buying in with CJP yet.
