Helton: Pruitt can stand toe to toe with any offensive coach: a great football mind

We then lost to two mediocre teams with a bowl game on the line. One of them Vandy. Member Butch beat UGA and Florida in the same year but lost to SC and Vandy and guess what, those wins didn't matter so much anymore.

Do you feel warm and smokey? You guys who do not see the progress don't want to see the progress.

Not true. Not close to true.

I pretty much prayed for progress. I. Sick of the Vols struggling to win. Sick of snide comments from bandwagon Bama and UGA fans.

I WANT Pruitt to succeed. At this point there is no real data that says he is going to.

They both mattered to me. You guys wanna give back fine, I ain't.

I'll never understand why the wins over Kentucky and Auburn can't be just that, good wins. If someone makes them more than that they get smacked right the fork back down with but but but Vaaaannndy, and SC last year, and Wyoming, but but but Peyton never beat Florida.

Lol, it ain't never gonna end. We're gonna suck until we don't, then we still will.

It was bad but beating AU and Ky showed me Pruitt has what it takes to be a SEC HC. I have no idea if he will ultimatley be the guy for the job but I've seen a few flashes

He showed some flashes, he also showed complete incompetence. 2019 season will tell us what we need to know about him and his staff.

I'm a cautiously optimistic pessimist at this point.

Vandy yes, mediocre...Missouri, not so much.

4 losses, Georgia & Alabama (obviously) 2 points to South Carolina on the road and a BS call against Kentucky. They thumped Florida, in the swamp and hung 50+ 3 times this year...oh Dooley can OC damn well.

2017 Total Offense Rank: 124th
2018 Total Offense Rank: 121st

Not sure Helton was worth $1.15 million to move us a whole 3 spots, but technically it was "progress".

Unfortunately, at this rate, we won't crack the top 100 while Pruitt is still HC.

I do think he will hire someone competent and we will have some sort of reasonably good offensive strategy but the quote from CTH sounds a lot like someone blowing smoke up someone else's skirt.
There are glass-half-full folks, and then there are the glass-half-empty types. You? Just plain empty.

Nothing about the last 2 games of the season back up what you're stating here. Nothing.

Most of the players that played in the last two games didn't give their all for UT the last two games of the season. Even great coaches like Saban can't make players 'WANT IT'!!! If you watched the AU and UK game and don't think the team improved, I don't know what to say. I agree with you on the last two. But, Pruitt will get it done here as long as he doesn't let his loyalness to his buddies get in the way. He has shown he can develop players, recruit, will lay it on the line by being aggressive, and work his azz off to have an ELITE PROGRAM. Let's hope the administration and fan base is patient enough to give him at least four years. I really think they will be. I think UT wins the East in 2020 or 2021. After that, the program will be back on track. As long as we win the SEC EAST AT LEAST 3-4 times every decade, with 2 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS and 2-3 PLAYOFF APPEARANCES every decade. I think that qualifies as ELITE. I really see Pruitt bringing us to a level where we were in the 90's and early 00's within three years!
