Memphis basketball fans hates. Tennessee. They view themselves as an elite Top basketball power. They view us as insignificant in basketball, yet they cannot explain hold we hold the edge in the all time series.

They think they're Kentucky and yet can't seem to remember that we play Kentucky every year and know the difference.

I don’t think Penny’s style will ever get them far in March. There is not a lot of structure there. He can recruit all he wants, but there has to be some structure and discipline in there. They have none.

I don't know, the ESPN guys sounded like they were ready to put him in the NCAA coach's hall of fame after only 10 games.

Looks like Rivals or 247 has their information wrong lol and I didn’t say we wouldn’t take him if he wanted to come. I said I didn’t think we were looking for a Transfer QB and that I didn’t think he would come to Tennessee.

Nothing wrong with his current roster unless you've forgotten that ours is composed of 3*s and players others thought 'not good enough.' He needs to work on his offense if he's gonna do anything there. Talent was 95 percent of what they were able to do against us but talent can only carry you so far when you run up against a well coached team. Scheme wise I wasn't impressed at all.

Doesn't matter the perceived talent you have on your roster if your coaches don't develop it to play as a team. Nothing about that Memphis system or roster was team oriented. It was all one on one match-up oriented with an occasional feed down low from the post to a cutter. If Memphis were well coached they would have stopped doing the hand checks, blocks and trips that they got called on repeatedly in the first half, which continued in the second half. CRB was smart to go zone even though it hurt them in the second half on 3 pointers. He saw how the refs were calling it and gave them no opportunity to affect the final result. If the game had been tight he would have risked it with more man to man and pushing the 3 point line.

We need Turner back.

I disagree to an extent here. Memphis has a plan to attack our zone and it worked. They had 22 assists. There was a system, but they were inconsistent.

I just bought tickets to the AAF Memphis Express vs Atlanta Legends game. Football in March so it’ll be worth it. There are several former Vols that play for Memphis including Pig Howard and Von Pearson.

Let’s be honest here. Penny coaching Memphis basketball is the equivalent of Peyton coaching Tennessee. He’s going to get players especially since he’s been around the AAU programs for a bit.

I think you missed my point. I don't think Penny will be a great Xs and Os coach. He will rely on having a roster full of great players. We know the shadiness of Memphis, UofM, high schools, city of. He'll get great players.
