I just hope it stays at 8. NCAA doesn’t tend to stop when it works. 6 would be better with the top two seeds getting byes.
I wouldn't be opposed to 6, no more. But, I do like 4 though. While yes, is UGA 1 of the 4 best teams in the country, maybe, probably; but, dang, how many shots do they get, you know?

Absolutely on all this.
Should be a chance for all P5 champs barring obvious ooc losses and at least 1-
A. - Team that slipped early on but definitely became legit contenders after. (Could have been injuries, new system, whatever)

Or

B- Team with a lack of SOS (for multiple reasons.)
But also agree with a guarantee on not expanding it indefinitely. The regular season should mean something but there has to be a balance.
Jmo but it's the same I've had since the playoff was still only an idea.
You think Washington should be in playoff this year?

They will include all 5 power conferences in an 8 team playoff, because how pissed would other conferences be if, say the SEC, got 3 or 4 of the 8 seeds and power conferences got left out (even if they didn’t deserve to get in). And that’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Thanks

I.heard a report that there is basically 0 interest in expansion from the power players. Most of the matchups would not really create more revenue, and an expanded playoff could water down the season. ESPN is already broke with the deal they gave doubtful they'd dig much deeper to pay more.

Which sucks because it could completely destroy the importance of the regular season. A team could have their conference wrapped up by week 9 and sit players for big games later in the season. Don’t like the conference tie-ins but know the big10 and OSU will cry like babies about it.

Since 94. But it wasn’t rampantly availableand still is limited to 5 per team.
Got anything to prove that? I’ve been hearing about guys getting those evaluations as long as I can remember paying attention the NFL draft.

Applying for NFL evaluation wasn’t an option that long ago.

Also they simplified the evaluations to 1st 2nd or Neither grades since 2014. It’s a useful informative process now...wasn’t “not that long ago”.

Holy shifted goalposts, Batman!

Yes, until recently they gave estimations that guys might be mid round picks as well, but quit because their accuracy rating was a lot lower for mid/late round prospects than for early round prospects. But those NFL evaluations have been for quite a long time.

Anyway, you could have just admitted you didn’t realize it had been around so long. Everybody has to google stuff occasionally. Admitting you didn’t know something is a much better look than scrambling and shifting the goalposts to try and avoid looking fallible on the internet.

I guarantee you that the PAC12 and BIG10 are pushing for an expanded playoff.

Really thought it was a shoo in when we hired Pruitt that he was going to recruit and sign BJ Emmons from JUCO.

Is that a completely random and irrelevant thought? Yes. Thank you for reading nonetheless.

Random thought of the wee hours

Kerwin Bell - HC @ Valdosta State
Plays for the championship tomorrow...

His team is undefeated and has top ranked offense

Spurrier Protoge - runs spread and air raid combo offense.

Coached previously at Jacksonville St and had potent offenses prior.
He is also the man behind this epic Gif. For a gator he's a pretty funny dude.

He's not going to admit he was wrong about any of this.
Truth is his accuracy on post regarding NCAA rules mirrors the Batting average of national league pitchers in the MLb.

I know someone who is about three degrees separated from Sapp. It appeared to me a disagreement happened on the sideline between Sapp and maybe a coach, and Pruitt either didn’t get the exact story or couldn’t deal with it at the time as head coach. I think Sapp will say that he never refused to go back in the game. Nothing really came out the following week, so it seemed that Pruitt got the true story and tried to keep it internal. I think some other players may have backed Sapp up as well. Don’t think we will ever know.

Thanks, I was more or less explaining the rumor.

Yeah but the real power players don't care about conferences that aren't committed to better football to watch. This is all about revenue. They only sort of cared about making a more fair platform. What drives the bus is revenue and four covers so much of the pie that significantly less is gained past that 4.

Sapp made a terrible decision. And I say that without any animosity towards the player.

I mean, if you think you have NFL potential, then I think you have to look at this next season as a business decision. Meaning, you squash whatever nonsense it is that is preventing you from meshing with the staff or getting playing time. Work your ass off for a year, dot your i's, cross your t's, swallow your pride and yes sir no sir your way into the mix. Fake it for a year and buy in.

There was a clear path to playing time here - and he is a guy who has natural ability.

If you can't do that, then you do like Osborne or McBride and transfer to another school, get some film.

As is, he has virtually no noteworthy film out there for scouts to evaluate. They're going to look at the Vols the past two years- how bad the team looked going 4-8 and 5-7 and say "How come this kid couldn't get on the field and contribute on a bad team?"

The only chance he has - and this isn't to get drafted, because that isn't happening - at becoming an UDFA is to show the F out in workouts. But he's so..... irrelevant (for lack of a better word) that I can't even see him getting a combine invite. So he'll have one shot to make an impression on NFL scouts and it'll be at the Tennessee Pro Day. But then again, there is no flash players declaring this year. Even if guys like Calloway and Jennings declare, they aren't talented enough guys were there will be a huge draw of NFL scouts to our Pro Days, especially if it is held on the same day as other more talent laden schools hold theirs.

Now, having said all that, I once again state that I have no animosity towards Sapp. He is a VFL in my book, and quite honestly it serves the team well if he were to get drafted. Recruits look at how many guys get drafted or end up in the league from each school. So hell, I hope he ends up sneaking into the draft.
