Volquest has swung and missed several times during this search. Not sure they know much about the OC search based on their results.
I’m not sure what they’ve missed on, honestly. It seems like they’ve been the only ones consistently saying no offers have gone out.

If I’m missing something let me know.

So my question is why does Pruitt want to micro manage our OC when he's a first time HC who is a straight defensive minded guy?

Not sure how that bodes for the future of our program on offense. Pruitt HAS to let a guy come in and run whats best for our personnel.

Lol

You said Lewis thought Helton was calling candidates.

You poor thing he didn't say that!

You are putting words in their mouth to make them sound worse
Actually he did say that. I just didn’t include it in that post. Again, go listen yourself or find a brick wall to argue with. I’m not responding anymore

They have flipped flopped on lots of things.
That way they can be right on all of it

I wonder if you are mentally challenged

Isn't the same as me saying

I think you are mentally challenged

I don’t believe he micromanaged him

Ill make a quick comment on Helton...he was leaving regardless if the WKU job came up or not...that was just a stroke of luck that the timing worked out like it did.

It's December. The Vols aren't playing in a bowl game. We don't know much about who our next OC will be. And we're on the cusp of a big recruiting weekend, but it hasn't really started yet. We are analyzing every word posted by many whose opinions and info we respect and value in most other times. These factors are a cocktail that produces pages and pages of bickering. I know, I don't have to read it if I don't want to. But guys who normally get along and are funny (to me) are seemingly at each other's throats today. Don't much care for that.

I’m not saying you’re wrong - i just don’t remember any of it.

On the whole I think they’ve had good sources on who we’ve interviewed and they never claimed that Freeze, Briles or Yurcich were a done deal like others have said.

Pruitt has an idea of the offense he wants, so ultimately, he wants to recruit the personnel that fits that offense.

I think the Helton racket is much ado.

Helton and Pruitt had mutual feelings.
Helton wanted out and Pruitt was more than fine with that.
Helton was paid well for his year here and got his own gig.

I don't think the feelings had anything to do with coaching/managing ability in regards to either Helton or Pruitt. Just wasn't a good fit that had a happy ending for both.

They flipped flopped on the freeze deal getting stopped by the university

And they flip flopped on Pruitts
First choice being Freeze

Depends on definition of micromanage. He pulled him down to the sideline mid-season so he could offer input, and in the last game I believe he even had a play chart.
Yes, because the offense was so bad he wanted to have more input. That’s a far cry from saying from the beginning he forced his offense on Helton and micromanaged him.

He’s the head coach. Head coaches tell their coordinator what offense they will run. If the head coach wants to focus on ball control, he will tell his OC that. If he wants an air raid style he can control that also.

Pruitt wanted us to run the ball. Him emphasizing the style of offense he wants to run does not equate to micromanaging the offense. He is not the one calling plays and thus he is not the one running to the left 75% of 1st and 2nd downs. That’s on Helton

I don't think Pruitt was in the wrong. I think Helton was a bad fit.

Saying he micromanaged him doesn't mean it wasn't warranted imo

Agreed

It's also fair to see why Pruitt woudnt have trusted him fully. The guy didn't have a track record

Now let's hope we end up with a guy with a winning track record that Pruitt isote apt to trust more fully
