So he was just speculating it might be a coach playing for a championship? He didn’t say it like fulmer told him?
Why is it so hard to understand that the powers that be are not ready to make the hire public. They have their reasons which they do not have to justify Until. they. make. the. hire. public,
I choose to respect and trust that Until They are proven wrong. There will be plenty of time to critique the hire Once It is Made.......Go Big Orange
It was reported by one of the guys that two interviews were completed on the coach that was top man in his home state. I think that is around the time the 95% done statement came out.Yes. Fulmer has told him they know who they’re hiring and there’s no reason to worry. Why would Doug lie? He wouldn’t. Fulmer isn’t going to lie to him either. They know who it is. We’re just waiting on them to announce it.
Chris Low said this morning that Freeze was told By Sankey that he preferred he take another job before ever coming back to SEC. so if anyone blocked Freeze it was Sankey
I dont think it ever got to the point of being blocked. I dont think Pruitt pushed for it.
SEC office is ridiculous. I would consider legal action if I were Freeze. They think they can run the entire show. There is nothing stopping a school from hiring him and take that risk. Mind you, I am not saying that Freeze should be hired anywhere without some due diligence, but that is just straight arrogance. Add that to Sankey’s comments about UCF “looking inward.” I am becoming turned off more and more about how the conference is run.

Why on earth would he do that? He would ruin his career cuz every bit of dirt on him would come out, from his time as a HC coach to at OMSEC office is ridiculous. Yup and Sankey. He probably told any SEC school+Freeze if he takes an SEC job more info will be released on himAlso keep in mind that Ole miss fired freeze really quick and slapped them selves with a bowl ban. They didn’t want The NCAA to step in and start digging. They tried to handle it as quick as possible. That usually means it was a lot worse then what is out there.

Honestly i think it’s more likely that fulmer is feeling the fans get restless and he is getting Doug to help him out and Doug is going to bat for him by saying something that sounds like a big deal but it’s really just hot air.
I think Pruitt was interested, sure. That’s why i want to see if stuff comes out a few months from now which it usually does.
My best guess to what happened is that freeze was either at the top or close to the top of Pruitts wants list. We know for a fact he interviewed. We started to Vet him obviously... and either someone in Memphis, Matt Luke (former fulmer Assistant), or Houston nutt (who fulmer is friends with), showed some dirt to UT and that made us really take a step back dig some more and then UT as a whole decided to go another direction.
I’m not assuming he has a ton of dirt. I’m saying whatever dirt (however small) he does have would be revealed if he tried to take Sankey to court. Sankey could easily pull some strings and get an NCAA investigation on him lolYou're assuming there is a load of, yet to be revealed, dirt on him but stating it as fact.
Yeah that's working well.
That's an extremely stupid move by Phil if true. If they trot Google guy after that play you have Pruitt taking a dud while "interviewing" at least 2 names that sound great and dragging out a process over weeks that could have been done in days.
Or he gets called a liar because it never was true and Pruitt is scrambling. Foolish move that is not needed. IMO.
I dont get the impression they are in panic mode. You d probably be seeing some more names this week if they were.
That means either both Fulmer and Pruitt are clueless or both know things are good.
