I’m sure he has carte blanche with his current status...but he’s not a COORDINATOR.
Not hung up...just sticking to the parameters of the argument that was being conducted between other posters. You jumped in with a position coach who like Rodney Garner has positioned himself as a recruiting game changer. They did so by their season long efforts...not their absence before signing day. So whoever we’re currently in on isn’t swayed by our to be named.Ok so your hang up is the "coordinator" title, which shows that it does matter because if a simple OL coach can draw so much interest then a top OC should be able to do more correct? These recruits do look at those position coaches, those coordinators. They do make their decisions on what coaches they will play for. I'd say the coordinators and the position coaches might be just a bit more important at times, especially for a young HC still trying to make a name for himself. An established OC, DC or position coach can make a big impact. So to say these recruits don't pay attention to this is very short sighted.

You don’t suffer for a guy you DON’T have. You lose or gain a good recruiter and it affects the NEXT class. Because relationships. But it seems like his and your argument is that it doesn't matter who we hire. We can hire any coach off the street and we'd be able to recruit well. Where as history and recruits even saying they went to a certain school because of an certain OC, DC or position coach says otherwise. If it doesn't matter then why is everyone, us, admins, media making a fuss about who we hire? If that's the case one of us could be the new OC and recruiting shouldn't suffer, but that's not the case though is it?
A great OC/DC/ or position coach can and most likely would sway recruits minds. We'll never really know for certain if we missed out on certain recruits because of this, but I do think it is something these recruits think about and watch. I wouldn't want to send my kid to a program who I had no idea who his OC or DC might be.
