If Yurcich feels he will not be able to run his offense, he probably has pause to take this job, and I’m sure his first call was to Helton. If he wants to be a head coach someday, Tennessee may not be the right job now.

Starting to wonder if people just don’t want to work for Pruitt. It’s bad enough we suck but add to that your boss looks like like a thumb and acts like an a** can’t help.

Given the amount of time and it's taken to find an OC, has anyone been mentioned as legitimate candidate that's currently in the NFL...like Jim Bob Cooter?

That's the only one that would make sense, given that he played for Fulmer and was more of a coach than a player...

Just a thought.
yeah, he and Freddie Kitchens are hte the two NFL guys that have been talked about here. i don't think anyone believes they leave the NFL OC job for a college OC job.

but, until something happens, it's something that can be talked about.

We are a literal sh!tshow
but only to ourselves. that no one knows anything doesn't automatically equate to "bad"

it just means no one knows. so we're free to speculate all the good or bad outcomes that could be.

the only s**t show is what we decide to write here, and how we react to it.

Cooter is from my hometown, and I'd love for him to be the Vols' OC, but his offenses have been terrible at rushing the ball. I find it hard to believe he'd be a good fit here.

Its downright embarrassing Ron.
Until the result is actually known, its idiotic to flame and attack this staff. We have not had ONE recruit make a move that was caused by this process.
Once we actually know who the OC is, THEN critique it. I guess some on here have absolutely nothing better to do than bellyache, and moan about something that hasnt happened yet.

I get that but they've had some sh** running backs for a good decade or more.

He’s not. That’s just more made up bs. Pruitt put together his staff in just a few days after being hired. He’s considered one of the best defensive coaches in the game and being the OC at UT is an elite job that pays over a million dollars a year. So forgive me if I think it’s bs that Pruitt is having a hard time filling the position due to people thinking he’s a meanie. Give me a break.
I’m just saying I don’t know enough to say either way.

1) Do you remember all the rumors about Jeremy Pruitt prior to Tennessee hiring him? That he was a hot-head and the only guy that could reign him in was Saban? He didn’t make a lot of friends at FSU and UGA.
2) He ran Helton off with the way he treated him. You can say Helton didn’t need to be here anyway and wasn’t effective - and I would absolutely agree - but the fact is Tyson was miserable about the way he was overruled on his offense and yelled at publicly.

I’m not suggesting I know for a fact that we’re having a hard time filling the position because of these things and they may certainly be false and overblown. I’m just saying we don’t have anything to discredit it either.

I keep thinking it may be someone who needs to finish the season/contract or gets fired as part of a new regime. That would explain why we haven’t given anyone a formal offer. Just maybe there is a better option out there than any of the names we keep hearing and that person has accepted behind the scenes but can’t announce publicly (which is why Matthews says it’s 95% done etc.)
