Houston Radio-Update on Briles

We don’t have anybody. If we did, there’s really no reason not to announce it.

It really is that simple. There is a reason people don't sit on it, because there is no benefit to not announcing. See, oh idk, Pruitt himself, last year.

Word out of Chattanooga is that he is interviewing Ryan Aplin today. They have a long relationship and CJP has been a mentor to him.

its a radio host, even fsu fans arent accepting it. So far no real news source has confirmed on fsu's side. WT has to get ok from fsu admin.

Either way, dont think pruitt is hiring him. Didnt mesh and we havent offered him. So it doesnt matter what fsu does.
I know I have orange blood but FSU can't compete with The Vols on facilities and there is no way I would jump on Willie T's staff.

Good or bad other schools can't use it against you. And with CP coming from Bama he should know all about how that works.

I am not sure FSU is making the correct decision either. They have to have made some poor decisions to be in the boat with us and other colleges who fired and hired new coaches this year.

Well, looks like the journalists out in TX have about as much integrity as the ones around here. The has his BS in Journalism, plays Madden on xBox, and has been around lots of football media events. All that makes him more CFB intelligent than actual coaching staffs.

The delusion doesn't end there either

TUESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE— Plane tied to FSU’s Willie Taggart headed to CA: ’Noles recruiting or hiring new OC? (Tomahawk Nation )
Is this for offensive coordinator candidate Kendal Briles?

Maybe they are after Tee, but then somebody else said he's going to MD with Butch. That was a pretty quick hire; maybe that's how you do coaching searches efficiently? I'm guessing not, but ...

And s far as "reporters" being in the know; this was in the article referenced above:

"Update (12/11, 1:39 am EST): After spending a second-straight evening in Houston (which has not been normal, as noted in the previous update), a flight plan has been filed for this aircraft to depart Houston at 11:06 am CST. Its destination: Las Cruces, New Mexico. We’re not sure what this means, but it’s possible that the plane may be being used by someone other than FSU staff."

Tennessee no longer invested in having a winning football program.

Yep. It's a clear sign. When the HC,AD, & BoT let an assistant coach hire go until the news media runs out of false stories about the hire. That's how you know they're putting in zip lines, ice skating, and roller derby in Neyland Stadium said replacement.

Or, maybe there's agreement between UT and new coach to keep a lid on it until such time they can announce their intention to leave to their current employer. That is very customary, and professional, when a coaches season is not over, and an ill times announcement could be damaging. That's why they don't have high school kids making these decisions, or spend any thought on consulting all of us throughout the process. Approximately 99.9% of the posters in these threads have no clue about vision, direction, culture, staff relationships, etc.
I like to think I’m in the minority, you know, that .1 percentile.
GBO!!

...
he has talked with Kiffin about this probably more than once and its more than likely Kiffin has
been lobbying him hard to hire Briles.
if Pruitt ignores that advice, he will make a huge mistake.

Did you just invent this in your imagination or is there an actual fact somewhere behind this?

A remarkable series of logic.

Truth

Do you really think that we are that savvy and coordinated that we:

1. Have an OC
2. Are just sitting on it for sh*ts and giggs
3. Aren't worried about how it looks to recruits

No, the admin and AD are ****ing it up like they always do. Just sit back and wait for your disappointment like a good consumer of orange and white BS.

Or the person who was hired has a clause in their contract like Auburn did. Lindsey got 100k for waiting a few weeks to leave.

No. I'm just saying that maybe he is trying to get big name coaches bit they are turning him down like the news is saying.

Everyone here thinks there is a secret agenda. Pruitt better be better than Currie. Lol
Or and this is what I tend to believe, Pruitt is fully aware that this is a very important hire to help him establish his culture at UT. Therefore he is doing his due diligence for the candidates he has identified, it's ok if that means the biggest names take other jobs, because they may not have been a fit here. I just wish people would quit acting like every coach has turned down the myriad offers that Pruitt has been throwing around, without any proof that he has even offered the position to anybody. Let him live and die on the hires he makes, not the ones he doesnt.

Yeah, I can certainly agree with you about the twisted logic; for example, why would Kiffin have an opinion or why would anyone at UT seek out Kiffin's opinion about a UT OC hire?

Pruitt has to be at least smart enough to know this OC hire is going to have everything to do
with his success or failure at Tennessee and will determine how long OR SHORT of a time
he will be here.

been lobbying him hard to hire Briles.

Sure! Kiffin doesn't want Briles any where near FSU. If he winds up at FSU, he'll have to recruit against him.

Its been reported in Nashville as well. I guess quite a few are miss informed on this one.
