Fair enough, but again, I don’t think we’ve missed out on anyone by waiting for Enos if that’s what we were doing. From all the tea leaves and rumors Freeze and Briles were never really options (due to either Pruitt, Fulmer, or the UT Admin not wanting them), and Yurcich is still there available. Again, this is all speculation because no one knows anything.

Is there someone else you think we missed on by waiting for Enos?
I don't know that we missed on anyone. Maybe delayed our search. We don't know which targets he's been after. This is all conjecture, that's why I said "IF" we were waiting on Enos, we were making a mistake.

Its just some chatter that has surfaced in the last hour. I have no inside knowledge, buts its out there that its not going to be him

You're conflating my dislike of the grad transfer rule with Bruin's dislike of QD's actions. I don't care that he took advantage of the rule, or if he learned lessons, or whatever. It's none of my business.

My problem with the grad transfer rule is that it toes as close to the "student-athlete concept is a farce" line as you can go without completely going over.

Yeah, we do know what they're doing with their football eligibility, and we know that it often has nothing to do with academics. But if the rules don't in some way align with the traditional 4-5 yr bachelor degree model, it does beg the question why we are limiting their eligibility at all.

And I promise I'm not just trying to belabor a point. I'm genuinely curious as to how you view this.

And of course our interest in UT sports is strictly because we want to see these athletes get a degree there, right?

We love to watch sports and sports are a great way for the university to promote itself. We entice the best players to serve both of those needs by throwing in a degree. It's fair. If he winds up with a BS from UT, an MS from UH, and an MS from CMU, simply because he can throw a football, then I'm proud of the kid.

Players should be allowed to transfer anywhere they like and retain eligibility. They are students and amateurs, after all, and not professionals.

Put them under contract and pay them and I would revisit that opinion.

Agree with all the current loop holes

We’re talking five years of eligibility...nothing’s changed. A student athlete gets his degree. Who are we to quibble over two superfluous years?

Because we added grad school to the equation.

Traditional grad/professional track is 6-8 yrs. If we're going to add that into the student-athlete paradigm, maybe eligibility should be 7 to play 6 with a free tansfer after 4 if you get into a grad program.

5 to play 4 with a free transfer after 3-4 yrs for 1-2 yrs of grad school doesn't really match up with any traditional academic career path. And if we have decided that this doesn't really matter, then aren't eligibility rules just arbitrarily hindering the athletes as thry try to get to the league?

Critical recruiting week. The coaches hit the road Sunday and are focused on locking down commits and recruits, especially early signees. Contact period ends Saturday, so there are only a few days left and a lot of ground to cover until recruits arrive for the final weekend before ESD.
Any bold predictions?

Will watch and wait but this could be the second ESD where uncertainty with coaches hurt our recruiting. If that happens, then I will start having concerns with Papaw Phil and Pruitt. They better get this right and win games next year because again, the bad optics are one thing but a failure in recruiting will be a failure that I can't see them being able to overcome.

A lot of these kids don’t get an opportunity for a free education without football. A relative few manage to graduate early? They should have free reign on how those two remaining years are used.

On TOS or elsewhere?
Apparently Basilio is spewing it out there. Someone on TOS posted about it. He said Basilio is claiming that Pruitt's relationship with Helton is hurting him from a perception standpoint. Also, our o-line stinks and most OC's want to coach elite players. Just a bunch of BS basically.

For those of you that think Basilio is an idiot and knows nothing, he is saying today that he doesn’t think Yurcich is going to happen. So maybe it will?

Also said he heard Jim Chaney turned us down over the weekend.
