Alabama promotes Enos

If that is true, why is the Legion of Miserables suffering so much consternation over the absence of a replacement offensive coordinator?

Coordinators are immensely more important than position coaches, especially now with the early signing period. Coordinators first then position coaches.

Maybe Briles took the FSU job because Pruitt didn't want to hire him.

Maybe Briles wasn't offered the UT job...who knows. also may have come down to conditions on Briles taking the job and Pruitt wouldn't give in(like coaches he wanted to bring)

247 reported Pruitt did not offer Briles.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The reason why Pruitt hasn't announced the OC is due to the backlash when we all find out it's Will Friend.

That's been my fear since the get-go. That all of the 'due diligence' would amount to waiting for all possible outside candidates to take other jobs, or get raises at their current schools, and then announce Will Friend's promotion as if after interviews with other candidates Friend was still the best coach for the job.

The only worse option I can see at this point, would be bringing in Propst, with literally zero college coaching experience, to OC an SEC team as his first college gig.

You think maybe the ones making the decision have made it and told the other candidates "Thanks for participating"?

CJP brings in Probst he's signing his own pink slip.

Nobody knows what Pruitt is doing with this hire.....it’s just been random guessing by the media....I just want Pruitt to hire someone that fits his vision of a dominant team.

I just want CJP to hire someone that will make this offense a weapon and not a liability. Do not care what kind of or whose vision it fits. Just score touchdowns. Throw every down, run every down, 50-50 of each or any combination of the two. Power runs, misdirection runs, RPO, dropback passing, spread 'em out or play in a phone booth. I don't care. Just make sure the Offense is well-oiled at what ever it's doing and score touchdowns.

Sounds a lot like the Currie coach search the yielded Schiano.

At this point, don’t rush things now (lol, not worried about that) ! Might as well wait till nfl and bowl season is over!

I'm afraid that would be the truth. He for certain would move quickly past the honeymoon period and into the wtf period for most fans.

I can't believe he would do that though. Friend is a much more likely and better option. Even though promoting a guy whose responsibility was seen universally as a liability would also zoom most right out of the wait and see or blame Butch mode.

Hopefully it whomever he chooses will be successful from day one and not need to do a bunch of on the job learning..

My guess is because the early signing day is new and most players would like to know who will be coaching them.
And ut doesnt exactly have a good track record of coaching hires.

I hope everyone that is bashing CJP for not being able to make this decision (at least the one you want him to make) cease posting for the number of days that you have made a negative post based off of media speculation with absolutely no evidence if he makes a good hire. If he makes a bad hire, I will do the same as I have no more evidence than you; I just like looking at the possibilities rather than wringing my hands and gnashing my teeth over something I enjoy watching, but have no control over.
