My only concern is that the OSU people hate Yurcich. Not sure why, but they don’t like him. Are we certain he calls the plays and not Gundy?
Sounds like from the interview that he was very knowledgeable about all players on offense. I just hope it's not one of those Oklahoma state deals where they use us to get more money.

AV already said he posted the ghostbusters thing when there was “a lot of misinformation being spread” and he’d talk about when the search is over.

Basically saying it turned out not to be who he was referencing. What am I missing here

Checking out their boards, there is a vocal crowd who doesn't really like him. I'd say prob 65/35 don't like MY. Some of the main complaints I've seen--can recruit but doesn't develop QBs, predictable, and can't make adjustments when needed

Bruin, stop looking for something to argue about. Good grief. I made an observation based on my opinion of him along with what his coach said about him last year. That’s it. Just my opinion. His defense is great and when he’s not on the floor, it shows. 13 shots but several of those where deep jumpers. He has the speed, athleticism and hops to get to the foul line almost at will. I just want to see more of that. That’s all. Relax... 👊🏼
stop responding to him man... thats what he gets off on ... notice how many of us DONT? You've been here 8 years bro... come on!

I don’t mind discussion but arguing for the sake of arguing is not my thing. Lol. I’ve made a note.

I think the biggest takeaway from the game today is not that we go cold several times, get down by 9 a few times, and struggle the entire first half on quick jumpers inside the paint, but the fact we didn't roll over and give up in a huge pressure game on such a large stage... against the #1 team in the country... a lot of really good teams out there would have folded under pressure, but with Barnes, we seemed to actually LEAN INTO the pressure and problems and rise from the adversity of it. We simply did not get intimidated and kept fighting. That is all you want from your team at the end of the day, win or lose.

By mid January, we should be a better shooting team throughout the course of the game and hopefully won't go into as many cold spells. Our bench will get "deeper" because we will continue to get better. Barnes absolutely will not let these kids get cocky.
The BasketVols have an uncanny ability to make a game even against the best offenses look soooo ugly...that is the hallmark of all great scrappy defensive teams..

Love this team, they have heart...the essence of what the Tennessee Volunteers teams are supposed to be.

This is a 'bingo' post. Nailed it.

The lean into it part is what CJP is trying to instill into the football roster. In that world he calls it straining. Guys that don't understand or simply don't want to do it are going to be gone. The B-ball roster embraced it. They knew CRB knew his stuff and would be straight with them. Look at how those guys play - they never seem tired, they never get rattled, they just keep working and out hustle other teams.

CJP knows the same principles CRB does. He's proven it on the big stage numerous times. The football roster needs to really get that part and do what the B-ball team has done with CRB. If it does and CJP gets his guys doing what his coaches tell them to do, the sky's the limit.

We only have one WR committed right now, Ramel Keyton. He and Tillman are very much built in the same mold as Calloway and Jennings. None of those guys are burners.

It’s hard to make an intelligent argument that we’d be better off next season without Callaway and Jennings.

Lol, way to insult my intelligence passively.

Anyways the argument can be made that both receivers will be missed. But, I believe that could be in their best interests. Byrd is returning as well and he is a burner.

So with Murphy, Williams, Byrd, Tillman, Johnson, Palmer, Gray, Keyton, and possibly another Freshman receiver and all the other receivers we have that I didn’t mention, I believe we would be okay without Jennings and Calloway.

Could Lebby be interviewing for a RB coach and running game coordinator or QB coach and passing game coordinator role?

If not developing QB’s means we get Mason Rudolph-like QBs, I think we can roll with him

I imagine okie state fans hate Yurcich because they lose occasional games something like 56-51, and they don't get that last drive in the fourth quarter so they blame the offense instead of the D that gave up eight touchdowns.

At least that seems to be common for hating OCs that put up a lot of points.

IMDb also says he did a lot of space movies like close encounters etc.... maybe that’s what AV also meant by “traveler” comment?

OK, true talk.
Before, when we were talking Freeze or Briles, we basically said Yurcich was Briles without a good run game.
Liking everything else I've heard but are we gonna acknowledge that was a real concern?

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Analysis during the game is not unfair. I'd bet Barnes was telling the team the same sort of things during the game. Would you let him help you with your elementary school team?

I know not to crap in my pants when I get down with a good team. Big thing I saw is they never stopped playing hard and playing defense. Sometimes shots don’t fall but shot selection was good. You will have bad stretches and other teams that good have runs. That was a well played game and you can never go full Catbone and be able to defend it.
