Thanks Ron.

Yurcich seems more likely to stick and wait for his HC gig than to take a flyer with us for minimally more exposure. Risks would be high for him here I think.

Briles is a wild card

Enos if available checks all the boxes and it never Hurts to have a Heisman candidate on your resume.

Yurcich could make significantly more $ as OC at UT vs. HC at a place like Akron or Kent State. Plus if he's successful as an OC in the SEC his next HC job offers would likely be much bigger jobs. So if he's confident in his OC abilities why not double your salary, go run the offense in Knoxville for 2-3 years and then take the HC job at a power 5 school?

Still wish we pushed harder for Kelly Bryant. He is exactly what we need. Maybe 3-4 years from now (If Pruitt is still here, ha ha at this point) we can move into a pro-style/drop back guy, but with the lack of talent and depth we have to find a kid who can sense pressure, move in the pocket, and use his legs to give more time or get the first down. We currently do not have that kid. Kelly would be a plug and play instant upgrade. I was excited to see Locke go, thinking we'd have a fighter's chance next year with them breaking in a new QB... BTW we have as much change getting Hurts to transfer here as getting Chaney/Pittman to make a lateral move from UGA. Does anyone on here use common sense anymore?

It wouldn't be that big of a shock really. Both have bounced around their whole career. Both seem fine with being assistant or position coaches. UT was paying Helton roughly 300k more than Chaney is making at UGA.

And he probably has to fight against the narrative that Gundy is the real offensive mastermind at Okie St and he is just benefitting from it.

Take the Tennessee job, build a good offense, and everyone knows it was you.

So Mathews said it was 95% done but Hubbs & co. Continue to throw names out. One name that has as much baggage as freeze. Something isn't passing the smell test. Is Mathews wrong? Is HubbCo wrong? Does Mathews know but he's helping fuller by spreading disinformation?

That is definitely a sound counter argument. If he wasn't so loyal to Gundy I'd even call it the best argument. I think he stays with Gundy until a promotion.

yeah, i think the one mark against Coach Y is that he's in the big 12. they just dont do defense out there.

so yeah, go to the SEC. if you're that guy, it'll translate there too, just w/out the gaudy #'s. it'll be more about efficiency than video game #'s.

What ever happened to the beer drinker from NC State? Did he get his raise and his name dropped off?

I could see Yurich being more willing to move now. Fedora is available and worked for Gundy as OC in past. He could be an easy replacement and Yurich could feel like being in SEC gets him more attention for HC jobs. It gets him out of the Gundy shadow. Even though he has called plays the whole time I'm sure that comes up in HC interviews is if it's his offense etc.

And for what it's worth, let us still keep in mind that any of these names being floated around, whether its Enos, Drink, Yurcich, Briles, or any other, are still looking like OC upgrades compared to the job Helton did.

According to all the reports this week, I thought since we passed on Freeze (or were not allowed to hire Freeze) that he would have inked a deal with Bama, FL ST, or Auburn, since he supposedly was in "serious talks" with all of them... SMH... everyone is full of BS.
Exactly. “If we don’t hire him by the weekend he will have a job and be recruiting by Monday “.
If Auburn has a problem with your character then you have a serious problem.

On that we can all agree but if the line doesn't improve they will all look like horrible hires.

Shoop effect is real at UT.

Look, Brice, Hubbs and the rest have built relationships within the UTAD which is where they obviously get their info. But after last years debacle, it’s obvious to me that that line of communication has been damaged. So they, like us, are often times left to guessing, researching and forming conclusions based on what they believe. Sometimes it’s easy but other times it’s hard. So, we don’t have to crucify them when they don’t know what we want them to know. Whether it’s a coaching hire or news on a recruit, a great level of understanding the fluidity is needed. Just my 2 cents...
Price has the most direct line of communication of any media member
