Hugh Freeze random guess thread (merged)

I guess. I just dont know how to so narrowly define the scope of the agency to where my only responsibility is to get you a contract and help you enforce terms if there is a breach but otherwise I can do things for other clients that are contrary to your interests. Why would any potential client agree to that? Unless, maybe, there was collusion among the clients that enabled to agent to have an effective monopoly? Just a hard one to figure out.

There is definitely a monopoly. That is why even rap stars try to get into the business.

End of the day, it is not an agent's job to decide where their client goes. The client decides that. The agent's job is to get the client the best damn deal possible wherever the client decides to go.

Yeah. But what if the client asks the agent to get him the best deal and he'll go to wherever that is. Does the agent have an open auction? I do think at some point the agent influences the decision and when that influence runs contrary to another client's interest seems like the point where you'd have a conflict.

Jimmy’s purpose is more than likely in sports contract negotiation only. Jimmy will know when to push for more, and when to advise clients that their at the ceiling of the deal. He’s been doing it for a long time. As for enforcement, I would go out on a limb to say Jimmy would have Clients hire a different attorney for those situations. Most agents would have them seek other counsel (as not all agents are even attorneys) to keep that relationship open for future clients.

You're putting too much into perceived ethics. If the client wants to go where the most money is(which isn't always the best deal), then you find out who's willing to pay the most. An agent's only concern for job security is written into the contract, After that, it's up to the client not to suck at his job.

That could (and does) happen but in that situation he is only representing one side and I am sure his other client understands. He may not like it but he understands it. From another viewpoint a client may not care as much about money as they do location, family atmosphere, etc and Jimmy can’t help a client hire his available client if he doesnt want to go. The most important part in these situations for Jimmy is to just not get caught lying to either client. As long as he keeps everything honest, they are all professionals and can usually walk away in tact. Not always, some of their egos are off the charts.

I gotta say... I'll admit to getting caught up a little in hoping we get Freeze just from a competitive standpoint (i.e., we got him, you didn't, bastards!) but initially I didn't want him at all and the nagging uneasiness remains. He certainly has a good offensive mind (although I never saw how it meshed with CJP) but he's not the only guy who could be successful here. And there's a glaring downside with character — not just the hookers or the NCAA issues or even the maybe/maybe not BA thing, although typing all that makes me wonder if that isn't enough. But there's just a feel of general sliminess cloaked in false piety that makes me wary. I don't know, my source has no solids, maybe I'll be proven wrong. But I won't be sad if it ain't CHF.

Wow, Netflix would come calling, for sure...give Ozark a run for the money. The makings of a good series is there...lies, money, greed, football, girls, etc, etc

Haha. I have had some of the same thoughts. Right now it feels like when you’re at an auction and you sorta want something but dont care much...then that a-hole across the room bids over you. Then all you care about is beating them. At the end you say “what the hell did I just buy?”....”holy crap, I paid what for it?”

Exactly!
