I understand your post and why you'd feel this way, I myself am also just numb on these coaching searches and got myself all worked up to a pissed state. Then my wife pointed out to me that while my anger n hatred is warranted due to the previous admins and hires that I needed to relax and just patiently wait cause 1 thing is different and that is that we have Fulmer as AD and 1 thing is for sure...... No one of us fans want this program back to it's winning traditions more than Phil. And he will not put the program in a position to fail or be stained with negativity. So the 1 thing I will point to as a reason for hope for the best hire is s_fulmer_i.jpg

It may not be the sexy hire we the fans want but it will definitely be the best option for Tennessee in the long run. Just my wife's opinion coming thru me. And hey she's a women so you know she's rite!!

Let's face it Freeze has had issues with women and the NCAA. I believe in giving 2nd chances (I've been lucky enough to have been afforded 2nd chances myself) but I also understand if you're hiring a high profile coach at a high profile university every rumor has to be checked out. I don't know if Freeze has been totally vetted yet but I trust Fulmer and staff to do the right thing. If the job is offered we can be fairly certain there is little chance there is something under the rug that is going to come back and bite us in the butt. If the job is offered, it's up to Freeze.

It's definitely baggage but I think the NCAA is nothing more than a paper tiger now when it comes to P5 schools. They would be way down on my list of worries with this hire.

If the box he didn't check was "baggage"...that shiz was known last week and the week before and the week before that. No way we came all this way and are surprised.

I agree. My concern would be the same I had with Bruce Pearl. What he did doesn't bother me as much as how recklessly stupid he was.

The reason the SEC didn’t want a school to hire Freeze last year, was because Ole Miss was still serving its penalty. Bad optics if the coach was back working during this time.

If that were to happen then you would have to believe there may have been some things hidden in his past that were unseemly but it could also be that FSU was willing to outbid the SEC but that is probably the least plausible.

UTAD had to know that Helton interviewed for Western Ky job before they announced hiring. UTAD is so reactionary instead of being proactive it makes me sick. Have a dang plan in place--ok if Helton leaves we have potential replacement 1,2,3 and deal is done in 2 days tops. Pre-vet the Top 3 candidates. They have no clue.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, and the latest accusations, any AD that signs off on hiring him is opening up themselves for future problems. It’s a risk UT can’t take, especially when there are plenty of other qualified candidates still available.

Serious question/discussion.....
With Chris Low reporting that Fulmer blocked the hiring of Freeze, what is your take on whether or not David Blackburn would have allowed Pruitt to hire Freeze if he were the AD?

Pretty apparent that Low doesn't have the first clue as to what's going on with this hire. He's thrown dart after dart and hasn't even hit the board yet much less get anywhere near the bullseye. I find this particular piece of reporting of his to be extremely unlikely as well.
