So, I'm hoping that if Jeremy doesn't hire Freeze, it is because he believes there is a stronger candidate and not because a suit told him no. That's what I'm going with.

I highly doubt that he would let someone in a suit tell him what to do, this is the same guy who called out the whole UGA administration/board for having no indoor practice facility.

This is more fun than the Gruden threads, and I was right in the middle of those. To think that the BOT has anything to do with an OC hire now thats a White Wale

Maybe because he grew up in Knoxville, attended and graduated from UTK, is a very successful businessman/entrepreneur, is deeply interested in public higher education, loves the University of Tennessee, wants what's best for it and has good sense to run it. Much like the interim chancellor of UTK.

Course, we could have just brought in somebody who wants to collect a nice mid six-figure paycheck for a couple of years.
Very cool story.

Disagree completely.
They don't care who we hire out of 99% of the candidates. But any hire that could *possibly cause any damage to the University image, donor concerns or over all well being, will at least be reviewed above the level of the AD.
And at that level, the will at minimum, address concerns of any BOT member.

Personally, I think their concerns would be laid to rest but any BOT member should at least voice them, if they have any.
In this case, it's literally their freaking job to do so.

I doubt Pruitt and Fulmer would be allowed to make travel plans with administration approval. Its just the way things are done here. The athletic department was in full control in the 90's but those days are over.

Bill? Is that you Bill?

Let me remind you that our new interim UT President most certainly IS a Haslam family pick and that the Haslams DID 100% support his run for being the top dog of our state over Bill Lee.

Also most of our new BOT are hand picked by the Haslam family.

There's still far too much power and influence over UT by that meddling family.

It's also NOT good at all that 1 agent named Sextan has so much power and influence over coaching and who goes where.

VFL...GBO!!!

It was reported in the legitimate press at the time that the new Board members specifically ASKED Gov-elect Lee whether he would be opposed to his former GOP primary rival being appointed interim president. The articles said the governor elect was perfectly fine with that; he knows that, like himself, Randy Boyd is an accomplished businessman. The real animosity in the GOP primary was between Boyd and Diane Black. Lee knows that he will have his hands full as a new governor and he doesn't need distractions at the university. He's happy to have someone who knows what he's doing running it for a couple of years. One more time: Lee is glad that Boyd is interim president.

OF COURSE the new Board of Trustees was picked by Governor Haslam: he's the governor and the governor gets to appoint the members. The General Assembly (no, conspiracy nuts, NOT the UN General Assembly) confirms. There's no conspiracy involved; it's the statutory process.

Did Helton give Notice prior to Vanderbilt Game?
OC Departs to WKU Quickly.....Interviewed Prior to gauge interest? Was this a done deal prior to game?

Did Search/Query begin prior to Helton's Departure. Potential Candidates identified.

Was the Timeline Shortened due to Recruiting & Continuity?
Freeze identified as top Candidate appears he is interested. (Kind of has a Gruden spin to it)
SEC Granted Clearance....

Posts made regarding hire. In the Media
Some Push Back local media but not Nationally (local) Who would you think would be responsible for that......Haslam?

Other Fan bases would want Freeze......AL would definitely get into the mix. The best thing that Sanky could do is approve the Freeze to Tennessee hire... better promotion of SEC competition.
"Push Back" Interim President immediately addresses it. Supporting the ADs and Coaches decisions...

If the Board disapproves this decision then we have gone nowhere since 2005.
What we have been told to believe is the following:

1) Freeze hire is going to happen with 90% confidence just a matter of when...
2) CPF and CJP the hiring rests in their hands....
3) The Board is worried about "Push Back" now instead of 10, 9, 5 & 1 year ago. Countered in part by the Interim President...vote of confidence...????
4) The other factor is other fan bases are trolling us and the media is twisting story lines for ratings and clicks....Just like Gruden...

My trusted viable source died over a decade ago....still maintain contact with others but they just don't know...

This is bizarre

Also, why was the loser of the GOP Primary for Gov, installed by the lame duck Gov to be interim President. Gtfo

I had this same thought about Boyd. He got trounced in East TN - his home area. I was shocked at how bad he got beat. Now they’ve made him interim president at UTK. Must be a Haslam puppet.

So the board is mad cause they had approved the Back door hiring of schiano and was **** down by volnation, not just this forum but all vol fans. So now they want to use freezes past as an excuse to screw the fans over for screwing over their decision to hire a garbage coach.
If I had to guess it’s the Haslams putting their nose in it because they are still pissed about not getting schiano.

- The Board of Trustees is not involved with the hiring or firing of football coaches.

- They weren't consulted last year on Schiano or anyone else.

- They haven't been consulted or provided input on the OC hire.

- The Board of Trustees is completely new from this time last year.

If it was going to be Freeze but isn't now, have you heard what the hangup was? Or did I misinterpret your post?

I've been told by people I trust from the beginning that Freeze was never going to happen, but that there would be a lot of speculation around him to try and drive his ability to get a job somewhere. To basically create demand. We'll see.

I can't say that I know for sure one way or the other because I am surprised by literally nothing anymore in the f'd up world of college sports. But I am not expecting him to be hired here.

Who do you think it'll be?
