No, not at all. There was literally NO national media saying anything about Gruden coming to Tennessee, they all mocked us and for good reason. The Gruden thing was always made up by 3 or 4 posters on this board who I believe are the same person just trying to have some fun and feel important. The Gruden thing got escalated by a guy named Trey Wallace, who was later found to be using Volnation as his source and in fact had no connections or insider status.

The media didn’t know about Gruden’s deal with the Raiders. It was finalized in early December.

This just doesn't feel like the TN thing to do..hiring the best available option.

Still think promote from within or maybe someone like Lindsay or Drinkwitz if we are lucky.

i don't know that i'd buy that. not sure we've actually made an offer yet. i think this week was about vetting and determining fit. i'm sure there's some pretty serious conversation going on about all that. which i think is probably a good sign actually.

it at least means that this thing hasn't been axed by us. and it means we're serious about considering him. and it may mean that we're trying to structure a deal that helps protect us against any potential transgressions that could happen in the future should Freeze fall back on old habits......................due diligence is important. may also be going thru best way to handle the PR of this hire, how to announce, when, etc......

i woudln't expect it to be drawn out forever.

if we're serious, and make a legit offer, i don't see Freeze not taking it. there's plenty out there about him having legit interest in this job.

Gruden was never coming to UT, I hope you aren't implying that he was before the Raider's deal. If so, just stop it is completely false. He had no intentions of ever coaching in college and the UT administration has known this since at least 2005 when I played golf with Phillip Fulmer and John Chavis
