Banks need to be sure to rinse the soap from his hands if he's going to be a RB. Definition of fumbleitis.

(and yes, this still makes me sick to this day).

Now back to the Pappoe thread... please..

I was sick for Pig man he gave his all that play much respect

I remember being astonished the first time I saw that rule applied, as I hadn't known about it. Still can't figure how it made sense to anyone.

I’ve always felt that was a fumble. Being as objective as possible, I can’t gripe the call, but the change of possession remains the worst rule in football by a wide margin
That rule is complete BS, offensive team that fumbled the ball out the back of the endzone should get the ball back on like the 20-30 or something with a loss of the down, no way should it be a touch-back for the other team. This way the team that fumbled isn't over rewarded but at the same point neither is the team on defense

I say make it a 15 yd penalty with no loss of down. If you had 1st and goal from the 10, then you now have gone from nearly scoring to 1st and goal from the 25. That is plenty of punishment for the offense, and enough reward for the defense.

So 15 yards from the spot every time?

What if you just threw a 60 yard pass that was fumbled out the back of the endzone?

Just back em up to the 25 yd line and say 1st & 25?

There is no reward for fumbling out of bounds anywhere else on the field in fact if the ball rolls out without the defense recovering it that is where the spot is, so I think if you set an automatic spot for the ball to go if the penalty is called, kind of like kicking a kick-off out of bounds (ball is spotted on the 35), it makes it the most fair in regards to how other fumbles that go out of bounds are handled.

You make a fair point, but even what effectively equates to a 75 yard penalty in the scenario you mentioned beats a turnover and giving the ball to your opponent on their 20. I could likely make an argument for either option.

Just jumping in here, fumbling out of the end zone is way too punitive toward the offense.
