"I think the Hugh Freeze stuff has some legs"

my guess is Pruitt is talking to Fulmer about who is on his list... then Fulmer (as he should) is giving some advice or recommendations as well but Pruitt will be the one to choose
And Fulmer is telling him I would go with Randy Sanders or David cutcliffe LMAO

I'm not sure if this has been brought up but I think there's a stipulation that if Freeze is hired before 11/30/18, he has to serve a two-game conference suspension.

No restrictions/stipulations of any kind if he's hired for the offensive coordinator job. Those stipulations were only if he was hired for a head coaching job last year.

There is nothing preventing the Freeze hire.

That would set it up nicely for him to be "hired" and announced Saturday December 1st....lets say during the SEC championship game for maximum exposure...

Hiring Freeze would likely leave us in the same position next year assuming he behaves and doesn't get in trouble. 1 year of OC, and he will likely be getting a HC offer somewhere at the end of next season.

depends on how you write up his contract

Only if his offense is booming ( unless your T Helton which I still don’t fully understand).
In that instance I’ll take it!

I trust Freezes legs analysis. But, he calls them gams.

You would be surprised what he is capable of if he ever decides to have the balls to run it himself,I lost count of how many times he was in shotgun and the call was like a read hand off where the qb could either keep or give it to the running back, not once did he ever keep the ball and run it himself to keep the defense honest, the holes he had on the opposite side was the size of Texas.

Wouldn’t we have contract leverage here? I mean no school has touched him to this point. Put in the contract that the school that hires him as an HC has to buy him out at 2 million. We were already spending 1.2 million on Helton. Take the buyout after 1 year and pay the new guy 500k extra per year on a 4 year contract. You’ve got yourself a 1.5 million+ salary for an OC.... ought to attract plenty of talented coaches.

Imagine being WKU fan, he has shown absolutely no qualities that would suggest great head coaching material other than possibly calling plays for one year at UT in a very underwhelming way

Well, he was impressive while OC at WKU. That probably played a bigger role in the hiring than his time at TN or even USC.

Agreed, if he did come here and turned around the offense and we get back to being in the hunt for the East it might easier to find a quality replacement if he should happen to leave. I think we'd probably better served to have Freeze, but Lindsey isn't a bad fall back either.

Lindsey has proven that he knows how to move the ball on the ground, and that is the best way to win in this league. I know that he doesn't have the QB or recievers that we have right now, so I would expect that he would wanna spread the ball around and run something like a 70:30 run to pass ratio. That would be great!! I would almost rather see him hired than Freeze to avoid the media frenzy, the NCAA buzzards, and the inevitable turnover a few years later. I think beyond a good coach and a good system, continuity is a big player in sustaining high level of play throughout the turnover of players year in and year out.

Bull crap. Our offensive roster l is no position for him to be Uber successful in year 1 where he jumps ship. This offense will be at minimum a 2 year rebuild. The bonus is getting Freeze for a 3rd year. If it’s me, I’m making year 3 of his contract some big salary jump to get him to stay. Anything after two years is icing on the cake.

Is it really a major problem if our offense is good enough that schools are beating his door down to offer him a job? There are worse scenarios.

I don't think he'd need to be uber successful. His resume of offensive success is already established. See Tennessee fans wanting Pruitt to hire him.

All he needs is a year of good behavior probably.
