Freeze absolutely wants it. Just like he wants any job that pays him more than the minor league football gig he’s currently got.

I really don’t think Pruitt has any interest - which is why it won’t happen.

You could totally be right though. If the top guys we want turn us down Pruitt might be inclined to take a chance.
Who are the top guys we want?

Well done

I was thinking the OP would be smart enough to find one good coach that made the jump without power experience. It does happen it's rare but I assumed he would know Malzon did it. I thought Freeze might have done it as well but he did have position coaching at a power 5 school on his resume
lol I gave you Chad Morris lol high school lol Tulsa lol then he established the core offensive principle that has aided Clemson’s rise.

lol

One of Auburn 247 mod that felt good about freeze to auburn previously said he no longer thinks gus will be allowed to hire him. He didn't go into detail to whether it was because of freeze or if admin is tryin to make gus quit which is something he has insinuated could be happening there. Power players trying to pull rug from under him with resources hoping he will take another job some where

It’s not the Haslams at all. They don’t care about an OC search.

Fact of the matter is Jeremy Pruitt is not interested in having Hugh Freeze on his staff.
Hmmmmmm...exactly opposite of what Hank Hill is saying. Who to believe, who to believe. What a conundrum!

Morris is a perfect one to prove my point. SEC teams don't allow coaches to skip levels on the resume.
That's why he had to start out in the minors

Another win for you

@HankHill has the goods. I’m not so much disputing him as pointing out that’s it’s interesting that we’re getting different info.

I believe in the guy I’m getting info from and I believe he’s got good sources as well. There are a ton of possible reasons different messages are going out.

lol SEC team hired him as a HC.

Champ!

The more I think about it the more I like Enos, although it doesn’t seem likely.

I’d be cool with McElwain too. I think he could bring a lot to the program and there’s history there.

No worries. Not trying to throw shade at anyone. It's just interesting to me that well thought of, trusted posters get different nuggets throughout one of these searches.

I wanted Enos last year. I think he’s a good fit. Like you said, just doesn’t seem likely.

McElwain would be fine with me but I wonder if he’s content to hang around until another low level HC job comes open.

I think McClendon is the guy.

Would you be ok with McClendon?

Whether Pruitt or Auburn want him or not, I’m beginning to think that what we know ab Freeze’s transgressions are just the tip of the iceberg. Partly from what I read on here & also from something Swain alluded to yesterday in a tweet. I’m skipping posts ab him - don’t think it’s a realistic option.

Yea he was hired after being OC at a power 5 and then a HC. I guess that winners like you aren't capable of understanding the steps up the resume ladder

All you do is win
lol So your take is that no SEC team (other than Arkansas) has hired an OC who hasn’t coached at the P5 level? I’m sure if either researched the individual SEC teams that we’d find myriad examples that counter your arrogantly declared narrative...but that’s neither here nor there. In all honesty would you respect Clemson’s process over all but the very top SEC teams?

I would be. He’s a great recruiter. Not just good. He might literally be the best recruiter we’d have on staff and that’s saying a lot.

I also like the fact that he’s so young (34). That leads me to believe he’ll be able to relate to and motivate the players and that he’s still evolving his offensive style. I think he’d be very experimental.

Freeze would be great...for the year he'd be here. Would have to get very crafty with the contract to keep him for anytime imo.
There's no doubt he wants a HC job again.

I do think shark week would love to beat his old team like a drum and that is the kind of motivation we need around here.
