Well, the difference being, there is rock solid evidence against Freeze. The allegations against Schianno were based on the triple hearsay testimony of one guy, a guy with a lot of issues himself I might add. Don't get me wrong, I am so, so glad we didn't get Schianno for numerous reasons but the Penn State connection is laughably flimsy, if he were a Clinton he would have gotten appointed Secretary of State and gotten a medal for it.

EDIT: Actually, if he were a Clinton McQuery would have been tragically struck by lightning or something before he said anything on the record.

Put Schiano's baggage on about twenty other coaches around the country, float them for the TN job, and you would not hear a peep. I'm talking the Peterson's, Saban's, Harbaugh's, etc. for a while. Schiano was reviled because of his head coaching record and no other reason whatsoever.

This guy gets it. All that matters is coaching ability. But we can pretend all we want it’s other things

This is how this would work with Freeze. He comes and the offense improves greatly under his guidance. (Good for the Vols). He gets hired away as a HC at another school and UT is looking, once again, for an OC. Lack of continuity is killing this team.
