I’m so just sick of people with the lazy ass take of “players quit, didn’t try, didn’t want extra practices, protecting themselves, didn’t want to play in a crappy bowl”. It happens with every single staff we have here.
-kiffin in the bowl game
-Dooley against kentucky
-butch against Vanderbilt
-Pruitt against Vanderbilt
It’s like clockwork. We lose a game we shouldn’t at the end and it’s automatically some half ass blame on the players and not even a word about the coaching staffs getting paid millions and that have every single recourse they could possibly think of didn’t have their teams ready to play and had a piss poor game plan. If you’re gonna put the finger at players then you better have a few pointing at our OC who was probably already trying on WKU gear during the week.

Rant over. Praise dale.

Its the most convenient way for the blinders to stay on regarding coaching. We have the best coach we can possibly have until the moment that we have the worst coach we can possibly have.

Obviously we are monitoring the situation closely this morning with Vols OC Tyson Helton and the head coaching vacancy at Western Kentucky. We've heard things potentially could move quickly there. Throughout the season there have been rumblings he hasn't been happy at Tennessee in a while.

We'll keep you posted on what we here.

Won’t pay a dime. That’s designed to keep coaches from making lateral moves not advance.

I have agreed that we probably won’t make him pay, since I think Pruitt is ready to move on too and we will do what we can to help make this happen for Helton.

Just give me an example of when a school collected from a coordinator making a jump...until then it’s window dressing.

But this is irrelevant. I don’t know the answer to your question because it is not easy to just google and find OC contracts, and I am not going to invest a significant amount of time in trying to dig them up. I think it’s pronably likely that most assistant coaches would not owe a buyout if they take a promotion (however that is defined) at a non-competitive school, but when you offer a first-time playcaller $3.6M guaranteed, it’s not your normal situation and there’s a much stronger argument that he should be locked down.

I think he deserves coach of the year and don’t think it’s close.

They had good wins @Miss state and vs LSU. It’s not like their schedule was a walk in the park.
Yeah...he did well. I thought he would at UF. Mehlan is a good coach, and now he is in a perfect situation for him to succeed..I have always said that. We might as well face the truth...ever getting back to the top is going to be tough sledding..

I like Pruitt...the guy is going to win big somewhere someday, he is too good of a football man, and normally real football players love the guy, and play like banshees for him...but...I just don't know if anybody can fix this nightmare anymore.

Freeze would be my top choice, but does anyone think Pruitt might try to get James Coley? I know he turned down the A&M OC job, but he and Pruitt did work together at FSU.
