Will Friend is already the co-OC, so IMO it would be a strong possibility that the new OC would be Friend or someone that had previously worked closely with Friend.

Also, if CP brings in a big name OC, the new OC is going to want to bring some of his own guys with him. Not sure CP would want to dispose of any other offensive coaches other than maybe Wienke.

Friend shouldn’t get it because honestly he’s kind of sucked as an OL coach this year.

This. I know the talent hasn’t been there, but there really seemed to be zero improvement at that spot. On the momentum-crushing sack following Vandy’s missed field goal and the Jordan 19 yard run, Tatum got beat inside badly but looked at the left guard like he was supposed to have help. If that’s what really happened and we’re still having those kind of miscommunications in game 12, that’s not just inferior talent getting run over, that seems like poor position coaching.

“Get it right” for him may be the reverse of what we assume. The conventional thinking is he needs to go outside his comfort zone. But I think he’d argue he did that with Helton and that’s why it didn’t work.

It didn't work because Pruitt and Helton didn't seem to be on the same page. Hire the right person and trust them to do their job. So either Pruitt didn't hire the right person or he didn't give the person he hired the freedom and trust he needed to do the job.

Friend as the OC. Has a horrible ring to it. His name strikes fear in the hearts of every lower tier school on our schedule.

He’ll have to hire him soon for recruiting purposes. I really hope it’s not just a promotion for Friend. That would give me the nerves
