Is now the time to help recruiting by polishing Pruitt's language skills?

Mom's want to know that a university can polish their child to help them succeed outside of football.

What does it say about Tennessee as a school if they can't polish Pruitt's English?

He makes a few systematic errors. A good speaking coach could fix it in 1 hour a week over 4 weeks.

Does Tennessee have anyone like that?
You... You know Pruitt doesn't actually teach any classes... Right?

Here we go again. I don't think the kids give a rats azz. He can recruit at places like Bama and FSU and UGA. He's not good enough here though without a speech coach. You just can't make this stuff up. I think we need to fire some of these fans.
Let's see, Bama, FSU and UGA. Maybe the schools' names did the recruiting.

Awesome Point!!!!. This sealed his fate. A competent leader of young men would never ever say this in a public forum (he might think it but would never say it).

That’s not true at all...... what he said was fine.

We're Tennessee, deep in the heart of the great smokey mountains of East Tennessee. I find it refreshing to finally hear a coach speak with the language n accent of this region instead of a danged ole northerner trying to fit in.

I know very few ET folks who come close to speaking like JP. He murders English on an elite level.

It's very important for pruitt to come across as an intelligent guy when talking with parents. When he says things like we trying to win but they just done better than us...that doesn't come across well. The thing that's so frustrating is that he's a college educated guy that certainly knows how to speak proper English. He just uses "slang" because that's the way a lot of people he grew up around speak I'd guess. To me it's weird that a grown man and professional that makes over 4 million dollars a years is intentionally trying to sound dumb. I don't get it.
Pretty good summation...
Most coaches talk about improving in all areas or all "phases" of the game to be successful. It does surprise me that he hasn't really made an effort to work on this and polish things up a bit. With all his success as a D coordinator you have to wonder why it took him so long to get a head coaching job. I do think he knows how to coach football, but I also think some recruits who are academically gifted may not be too impressed with the guy. Time and the types of recruiting classes we see will tell.

Wouldn't hurt him to work with a media consultant over the off season.

I'd rather he recruit and develop what players he has that have the desire to play. As long as his communication skills translate to players and recruits, that's all that matters in my opinion.

If UT wins, his lack of grammar will be seen as folksy and endearing, innocent southern charm.

If UT loses, his lack of grammar will be seen as unpolished, lazy and ignorant.

Right now, UT is losing, so...

If I want him to win a fellowship? Then I give a shizz. Pruitt’s recruited all different levels of academic prowess to play FOOTBALL. That’s where he needs to relate. Anyone ever diagram the sentences from an Urban Meyer press conference? Not pretty.

Mullen’s goofy and dances like a retarded otter. His classes will be better now but he’s not a good recruiter.

This is correct. His grammar reflects on his Alabama education, not on Tennessee. As to his accent, that has nothing to do with grammar...go “git ‘em”, Jeremy.😂😂🧡 Airight?
It actually does reflect on the University of Tennessee as an educational institution. It may not to you, but to many, it does.

This is idiotic. You think ed orgeron is losing all the great defensive players because " he no talk gud"? It's a non factor.
Well... to be fair, they use closed captions to translate his post game.

This is so true. There are many reasons why kids choose a school, and it's not always about football. I am sure the Vandy folks snicker whenever they see our coach in an interview.
