Not mistreating them. Ignoring them.

Sounds like he’s sewing the seeds of his demise to be honest. He needs these inherited players to play well for him to keep the crazies at bay. Another year like this year and he’s really going to be up against it. Hard to recruit into that void without long term backing from the administration (which I wish they would provide - we gotta give someone here some time).

It was clear tonight that Lyles imprint is still strong on this roster. There were clearly many “players” that had zero interest in playing in a bowl and having extra practices. Sure there were many that did show up to play and wanted to win, but when 1/3rd of the team actually preferred to lose so they could sit on their butts and not have to worry about extra practices it never mattered.
We can blame the coaches all you want for these last 2 games, but anyone that’s watched any football could see there were a large number of players doing their best to not do anything to help the team win.
This is exactly why we were 4-8 last year and I honestly expected to be 3-9 this year. Getting to 5-7 was actually an impressive feat for this staff and being 5-5 and a shot at being a hot, on the rise again team clearly scarred certain lazy players. They know that if they played their best and got to 7-5 and Pruitt and company look good then it was all but certain a lot of these current starters would be replaced by freshman with the talent and want to win. So if they did what they could to ensure we lost and ended 5-7 gave them a chance to kill some recruiting buzz and possibly protect their starting spot for another year.

Until Lyles players are gone and we get actual talent to replace all the lazy players that think justbbeing a starter at UT will get them in the NFL and a huge payday. Obviously they don’t comprehend that their lackluster performances have killed any shot of ever being even an UDFA.

I think this is just the easy answer. Sure, some players need to go. But the offensive staff needs to brain storm as well.

Why does Tennessee have to be about the only blue blood that just never gets back? Nebraska is coming back with Frost, so that can't be said about them anymore. Just seems like there's no end in site for this trash. Too far gone.

Nebraska went 4-8 this year in the Big10 wtf?

Fellas I'm 100% on board with Jeremy. It's just going to take time. It's almost like it's just going to have to be a Majors like rebuild. Will be following recruiting very closely in the coming months. We need a roster flip to say the least.

Well guys I really got to take a break. I’ve spent way too many offseasons on this site trying to peer into the future of the Vols through recruiting, rumors and practice reports and I’ve learned after all of it that I have no idea how things will go and that Saturdays in the fall are the best indicator of the health of the program.

I’m going to post my final thoughts here and then block this site and peace out for a long while.

Good idea 2002

See ya tomorrow

Can you elaborate more

He knows who he wants to keep. He is going to build this with his players. He is about being a football coach and is not into pandering. If we can see it, don’t you think our HC can? Got to get the rotten apples out. Culture change has to occur. Not everyone who leaves is a bad player or person. Some just don’t hate to lose. That’s part of the mentality he is looking for. I absolutely hate losing at a card game. My wife thinks you should have fun and no need to keep score. CJP doesn’t want my wife or that attitude anywhere close to this team. My kids don’t understand her either.

First, if I’m honest, I give Pruitt a less than 50% shot of getting it done. Too much negativity and fan expectations are still too high relative to where we are. He also is gambling on recruiting by going after all the big names. He better have a back up plan because I’m convinced he’s going to whiff big on many of these guys and land a respectable but disappointing top 15ish class that will only fuel further negativity.

We’ve got to recognize where we are as a program and schedule accordingly. Try to lobby for SEC realignment to move Auburn east and get Bama off our schedule. Schedule out of conference games against mid-tier programs for a while.

I’d rather he play a walk on and call out those who didn’t buy in.

My guess is we did. Not a walk on per se, but guys who weren't the best, but they bought in. My guess is also that this involves players who some fans criticized constantly and other players who some fans complained weren't getting enough pt.

Stfu. Walk away. Come back level headed

Need to go all in on some coach at some point give them six years to rebuild this thing. Tennessee is a hard place now to win consistently at and we need a firm foundation.
