How do you guys handle SEC rival players in the NFL if they didn’t do something jerkish against Tennessee... except for winning?

I mean, we all know how we feel about Tabor, and some others, but are you able to move on and not hold college allegiance against players like Gurley, etc.?

Yep. I told my friends at the time he would be a better hire than Muschamp. Young, offensive master mind with so much potential and ties to the area from his time at ECU. Glad it didn’t happen

Yea it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s in the NFL next year.

I dont much care who they played for qhen they get to the NFL as long as they weren't personally a dick to UT in college.

Too many people got too excited too easily. Same thing happened last year before signing day. Just because someone visits doesn’t mean they’re going to commit. Let’s just wait and see how we finish. Top 15 class would be nice.

He’s selling a hope and a dream. Most kids don’t want to jump into that. An overlooked negative from Butch is that he hurt us a lot with overplaying that hand his first two years. UT now has a rep of being a place good players go to disappear unfortunately.

Players and coaches. Dead end job for a lot of folks. Thus the fiasco of a coaching search last fall.

It’s a respect thing for me. Guys like Gurley, Patrick Peterson, AJ green, Julio, clowney...etc they are just so amazingly talented i try to just enjoy watching them. Players like them don’t come around too often. For the most part as long as they aren’t playing Tennessee they are good by me.

Well we just went 4-8 and we might go 5-7. Why would you expect us to sign a top 10 class?

Top 15 is good enough if you have good coaches that can identify and develop talent.
In order to expedite the process of getting back amongst the elite, we're going to need to stack legitimate top ten classes on top of one another IMO. We can't expect to just outcoach people on a weekly basis. If we're going to compete with the other big five programs in this league, we're going to need players who are just as good. That's the level they're recruiting on for the most part. UF actually isn't recruiting that well by their standards as of right now, but I suspect that'll change.

The tragedy of him not arriving to the stadium in a throng of Vol Navy boats and yachts is something I’m not sure I’ll ever recover from

I just remember going after Dave D from nC state and wanting to throw my phone out the window.....then getting the news that We we’re talking to leach so i perk up a little bit...then getting news that Leach accepted the job.. and feeling like we had just won the national championship.

I was also at the QB club and agree with everything said. Pruitt’s eyes light up when you ask him a football question and he can start Xs and Os. The dude was born to coach football and not much else (his words).

Do you sense that he really loves it at UT or just knows that's what he's supposed to say?

Good enough for a Music City Bowl trajectory. If we are going to get where we want and think we should be, top ten is an absolute minimum. And as we saw with Butch, that doesn’t mean much for the future unless it’s every year.

That shouldn’t be a problem with a recruiting staff at Tennessee regardless of the previous regime’s record.

Doeren would have been so terrible. What gets me more than anything is Currie knew he probably wouldn't work, but he was going to try and hire him anyway just to get it over with. That's what you want in an AD.

During the Doeren days I would have taken almost anyone. I was okay with papaw Phil coming back to keep him and Schiano outta here. It was a dark time. I’m just thankful Phil hired is a real football coach

If we have the right staff in place I don't think there's any reason to not win 7 regular season games next year. I'm not sure I'd say it's a stretch for them to win 8 with that schedule.
