Doctors gave a positive prognosis with a full recovery expected. But he's definitely done for the year and will have to make some decisions in the offseason. He can stay at UT, work with the team and pursue as many degrees as he wants. Just a really tough break... but not unanticipated.

Hopefully, he can get this issue under control so he can live his life as close to normal as possible. Would love to see him continue his career with UT in some capacity once he gets this under control.

I'd say put Jennings at LT and I dare anyone anyone to try to speed rush the QB from his side.

Loved how he planted his feet correctly to make sure his core was engaged. Must have been coached by Pruitt.

I don't think anyone doubts his cred. But what's the point of posting a cryptic "winter is coming"? He obviously is well connected, why not just post what it is, or let it roll out on its own naturally.
The point is the very nature of this board. Tremendous interest and affinity for UT football. It's messages like this that draw us here...otherwise, let's just pick up the morning paper and see all the day-old news.

He was correct in not posting the specifics based on it being medical related. Let the players and school do that. I have no idea if players sign any type of HIPAA waiver when they compete, but that's why people shouldn't get bent out of shape when a coach is secretive about an injury or medical situation. The player can ask that it be kept internally.

As was discussed when the diagnosis came out earlier this year. Clots will come with or without football. He has the best thing for him right now with the close monitoring. If he keeps that he could still play football, but it's up to him whether he wants to continue or not
The blood thinner you have to take to dissolve them is a big issue in not being able to play any contact sports.

Awful news for Trey. But this is the end of football for him. Two clots=lifelong anticoagulation.

I agree with others though that he will do very well in life. I really hate it for him.

He didn’t quote GOT. Said it was going to be rough this weekend and the players would have to man up. We found out exactly what it was in about an hour. I felt prepared.

We were kind of joking around about the cryptic post. I was thinking if anything it was a transfer or someone doing something bone-headed.

Really hate it for Smith, but I know he'll have a ton of support around him and among the fans.

Hate it for Trey. Such a great kid.

As far as the OL goes though, doubt it matters all that much. They're bad with or without Trey. They aren't winning by running the ball no matter what. Its about about the passing game and defense.

He has struggle this year at LT. Wonder and think health may have been the cause.

Thank you for sharing the prognosis news. It is a really tough break for him.
