Cites not being able to run the football, poor tackling and busts on defense as three areas where his team came up short on Saturday.

On slow starts says that for whatever reason Vols' execution has picked up as the game has gone on every week. It's something they've spent a lot of time talking about it as a staff. Feels like they've improved offensively but still have to figure out a way to score points in the 4th quarter. Notes that they've played from behind virtually every game.

On run game says that he feels like they're simply having too many mental errors this deep in the season. Hints that some of it is on the QB for not getting offense out of bad plays based on what he's seeing pre-snap.

Also notes that sometimes they're just getting whipped up front.

Asked about different guys getting looks at guard on Saturday and whether anyone really stood out, doesn't seem to hint that anyone was particularly better than the other. Notes that Chance Hall is still on a 'pitch count.'

Says that he 'thinks JG is going to be fine, took a couple of good shots, he's a tough guy, I expect him to be out there.'

On the QBs says that they had more errors from that position on Saturday than they had in the previous six games combined.

Against a team like Alabama you have to be able to change protections because they show you so many different looks.

Too many times they had chances to change the protection and didn't do it.

On Micah Abernathy said that he wanted to play on Saturday just couldn't go. Hopes to have him at practice today but didn't sound like it was a done deal that he would be ready to go.

'For us to get where we need to get to we need for some of these guys who are doing it the right way to get the other guys, whether it's friends, roommates or whatever, to get on the same level they're at.'

Pruitt notes that until Todd Kelly and Chryst went into the game b/c of injury on Saturday they were basically playing four seniors.

Said Saturday was disappointing b/c of the progress he's seen guys made in how they've competed in the last 11 months. Said he's frustrated for the guys who are doing things the right way b/c they deserve for their teammates to fight and give them a chance.

Asked about JJ Peterson, 'I think JJ ran down on a couple of kickoffs.' Doesn't elaborate.

I hope he takes a job somewhere where we can play him and beat his ass.

I already didn’t like the guy because of the way he treated players and the whole Drae Bowles situation infuriated me to no end. Taking pictures smoking cigars in Neyland just put me at another level.

The guy is human scum.

The Drae Bowles situation is something the university and Jones is lucky never blew up. I’d hate to know all the details that went on there.

I remember being in shock that he was hired. Then he started getting good recruits, and I thought this may work out. Then...Now...
There are hundreds of stories of the guy just being a bad dude.

I know a local kid that Tennessee was recruiting. The way Butch treated him was pretty wild. That’s just a small thing compared to the other stuff we know about Butch. But those things add up. And I’m sure there are tons of kids that have similar experiences.

most everyone hated butch jones

he did a really good job though of fooling a few people that mattered into liking him which was what he did both at an administrative/AD standpoint and from a team standpoint

Guys like that, and they are a dime a dozen, always know that they have to make nice with key figures. That way, when they're being a total d!ck to everyone else there are people there that are going to say, 'look I just can't imagine that.' The fact that those speaking out in their defense are being honest about the person they know lends a lot of credibility to the defense.

It's pure manipulation.

The problem is that every East opponent doesn't and West losses count the same in determining the East as East losses do. We are at a permanent disadvantage to every other team when it comes to winning the East.

True, but since Saban has arrived in Tuscaloosa that game hasn't cost UT the division yet. His first year UT won the division and since then we haven't sniffed it. If UT improves and Bama is still rolling it will bother me, but until UT starts competing for the East it's largely irrelevant.

There were rumors like there always are, and I never put much stock in rumors. I've got no inside info. I don't know anyone in the program.

But when the guy puts something like that out there, it removes all doubt about him as a person, and it puts a lot of validity into every one of those rumors.

The smoking the cigar in Neyland knowing the pic would get out just sums him up. It's all about him and who he can use.

I hope Muschamp tries to bring pressure if we start KC. He seems to do a great job in the quick game.

If he decides to rush 4, leave 8 men in coverage, and force KC to make a lot of those in tighter windows then the results won’t be pretty, IMO.
Derek Dooley approves of this defensive scheme.

Sure they'll drop off some. But the only way they're going back to the wilderness is if they hire a Butch Jones type and keep him around for five or six years, which they won't do. Swinney, Pruitt, or whoever they hire next will still have them competing for championships year in and year out.

They've done it before. They have made bad hires just like everyone else. There won't be another Saban fall into their lap when he retires. They'll pay any price but it might be hard to get the elite coaches to follow Saban.
