Titans play calling at the 3 yard line suuuucks. Mariota bailed them out there.

EDIT: he was short. Let’s see how they screw this up on 4th. Guessing fade to Davis that falls incomplete.

Guys, you can't take anything from the game yesterday. Just like Coach said yesterday, it's going to take recruiting. We have to get players. We have to outbid Bama for these players. The bag men have to step up. Coach Pruitt knows how it's done. Smart at Georgia knows how it's done. Both probably have dirt on Bama so they can do it without fear of Bama turning them in. Any 5* players should be getting $50K signing bonuses. Hugh Freeze knew the formula. He just got sloppy.
Well even if we arent paying players (im sure we are just like every program whos trying) at least we can sell immediate playing time, player development from a great staff and the opportunity to join what i think and hope will be a program on the rise. If i tried to put myself in the mindset of a non biased top level, SEC recruit right now id want to go to UT, A&M, or Florida based on resources and tradition, recent results, trending direction and playing time opportunities. Bama, LSU and Georgia are already too loaded to get PT off the bat. Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Mizzou and South Carolina all seem to be heading in the wrong direction. Vandy, KY and Miss St. Are just schools that have flashes here and there but dont have the history, recruiting power or resources to make legit sustainable runs.

Agreed. Yesterday was ugly but that was expected.

I think we can win all of our remaining games. Not saying I think we will, but I think we will have a chance.

I feel less confident about next week than any other game, just because of the situation: we're banged up, they're coming off a bye week, its a night game in their house. I think it could be trouble.

Quick question. Why do folks say we should win our remaining games? Outside of the Auburn game, what do you see with this Tennessee team that makes people think we can win out? If we continue to play like this on defense, Lock may throw for 300 plus yards. Vandy and Kentucky play better defense than we do. Our QB gets his brains beat out almost every week and we can't afford to go into any of those games with any more injuries. I want us to win out too but I just see too many obstacles that we have to overcome. I don't know anything about Charlotte but I bet we're in a dog fight in all of our remaining SEC games. I'm not sure we can play a complete game with the guys we have on the team right now. I want us to win out---I just don't see it though.

That’s because Butch was fake and Pruitt is not. The same score result on the field doesn’t quite feel the same when one is achieved by a fraud and the other is not.

Pruitt is authentic. And I think that will bode well for the program.

Agreed. It’s an interesting change. Kiffin, Dooley and Jones were all content to do what it took to keep the scores close to the degree they were able, but it meant absolutely nothing for the direction of the program.

Pruitt made the tough gamble calls at various points in those games that he thought were necessary for us to win those and we basically were burned every time. He didn’t care about losing by a wide margin - a loss is a loss. And then he called out the players and had held them publicly accountable for executing their assignments in those games and moments. Jones did that maybe once in a big game (Oregon?) in his whole tenure.

It’s a complete 180 with Pruitt. I like it. I like the brand of ball we play with him. We will get more players that fit his system and we will win some good ballgames and have a good time. No idea whether we will win another championship but I will enjoy watching it and I think we will have a team to be proud of.

Love me some Kyle Phillips and Ty Chandler. Guys are tough no matter the score. Tennessee boys too.

Juaun Jennings is already one of my all time favorite Vols. So many memorable plays and he had an awesome game yesterday in the circumstances. Him wrestling that fumbled ball away from four Tide players was vintage Jennings. He’s a winner.

I don't think we're that far behind most SEC teams. I think we can catch up and be competitive with most with a recruiting cycle if it's a good one. Having said that, we are grand canyon from Bama and we are losing ground to GA.

I think we are supplementing our players but not even close to what Bama does. We have to step up our cheat game to get the players.

Wow, Butch went full douche canoe yesterday didn’t he?
Yep. Butch has been spitting in our face for about the last 18 months or so. It is not surprising that he continues to do that to the people that supported him and his family for close to 5 years and gave him financial security for the rest of his life. Eff him.

I agree. This Bama team is ridiculous. They pound ‘95 Nebraska. And yes I’m old enough to remember. Different eras blah blah. This team is different. Effortless dominance so far
Agreed. That Nebraska team was dominant but they could not have stopped that Bama O at all. They would have scored some points because they were so dang good at the option attack, but not nearly enough to win the game.
