The QB Debate.... Post Bama (merged)

No, but I've seen more than enough football to see that JG goes flying when he gets hit and is slower to get up at times...wallowing in pain..more than others. Just calling it how I see it

I'm not calling for Chryst as the starter like a few others may...just saying JG has to work on beefing up more this offseason and do more as a vocal leader
Your post contradicts itself....either he gets thrown around because he dramatic or because he needs to beef up....

Listen the fact is, he is getting hit by men coming at him full speed while he is stationary....that's science of course he is going to get thrown like a rag doll. The coaches can do a lot to help him and the rest of the qbs on the roster. One being moving the pocket post snap. The fact that the OL, RB, TE are missing assignments are not the QBs fault, and any of us FANS do not know what any of these QBs see in their progressions, reads, etc.

Oh, you're absolutely right, football is a team sport and it's on all of them. But the "proximate cause" of that safety was KC getting his legs tangled with an offensive lineman.
Proximate cause? Hmmm...that sounds like someone who works in insurance to me.

JG is a solid, SOLID talent, but he’s got a ways to go to catch the speed of the game still. He’s not reading the D well and adjusting at the line from what we’ve seen. He’s nailed some long balls and looked good doing it ...BUT go back and look at the film and many of those throws aren’t in sync with the route (probably not just him), they’re slightly behind it and Jennings, Calloway, and Co. are just big and physical enough to adjust and make snags.

I think with (more) coaching, from a staff which actually know player development, we’ll be very happy with him in the future.

Chryst gets chopped up a lot on here. However other than a couple of chance sprints we haven’t seen JG be any more apt to avoiding a sack than Chryst...the guy is a recognized positive commodity, with skill set and 5 years of leading. And if you couldn’t see him reading the D in ways JG couldn’t begin to grasp today, the game is probably too fast for you as well.

I’m behind them both, but I’d have started Chryst from the onset and played to his strength with quick strikes to huge, physical receivers.

Not a coach, just an avid armchair fan. It’s all opinion

Military. Specifically, investigations. Criminal (UCMJ) Article 32 investigations, accident investigations, all kinds of investigations over a career. Proximate cause is one of those foundational concepts used across a wide range of disciplines. Apparently, including the insurance industry. I wasn't aware of that, but it makes perfect sense. *thumbsup*

Those are called back shoulder throws, it's on purpose, because it gives your guy the best chance to catch the ball, it's not always about leading them.

Aight, I'll base my conclusions on silly things like points and statistics. You can base yours on something else.

Points and statistics would not be a thorough review. You would need to grade each play for the player. For instance on one play to the left side, Chryst threw a ball near the sideline to a spot because of pressure coming directly in his face from a blitz. Calloway was running down the sideline and did not turn his head around quickly enough to catch the behind the shoulder throw.
Pass was incomplete but Chryst made the correct throw to the correct spot. JG likely would not have made this play based on what I have seen from him this year.

Definitely used in insurance a lot as consequential damages generally aren’t covered under any insurance policy. Thank you for your service. I bet that was a really interesting career doing investigations!

Heh, actually very little of it was investigating stuff. I wasn't an MP or an IG. Mostly an airborne combat engineer and foreign area officer (Europe). So, blowing stuff up, jumping out of airplanes, building stuff from time to time, and being the Army version of a diplomat. Sort of.

But you spend 26 years as an officer, and you'll do your share of investigations. Just comes with the job. Additional duties, you know.

*salute*

This is pretty stupid. If JG is healthy, he starts. Because the coaches think he is a better QB. I agree with them.

Yeah this isn't right at all. That pass was like 5 yards behind Callaway. Good job by Chryst getting the ball out and avoiding a sack, but that was a bad throw in a spot where his guy had no chance.

Calloway turns his head around and adjusts his route it is a completion. You see it done all the time.
