I have watched the back and forth of this argument all day, and it is a good one...After hearing both sides make really good points I just think the old wisdom is probably true in this particular case.."Discretion is the better part of valor"

You got to have the common sense to know the difference between "coaching scared" and "coaching smart"

You're not going to change a culture by leaving bullets in the chamber.

Guarantee CJP plays whomever is healthy enough to play.

Not really.
How many times are we talking about saving stuff for the florida game in the first few cupcake games?

All I am saying is we need to do the same thing here.
This is an SEC game, man...you plan and play it TO WIN IT, whether you can or not. Ceding anything to ANYONE beforehand is for the biggest losers, in the world of sports.

Tua hasn’t thrown an INT all year. Only QB in 20 years to start the season with 20+ TD’s and 0 INT’s
Im well aware of Tua's and Bama's impressive stats...we have plenty"Vol fans" here reminding us every few posts, so I'm quite caught up.

Again, I'm not saying they do it...Im saying that's the only way it can be done.

It just hit me. This is the first time in over a decade that we have a coach that actually understands this rivalry. There's no way in Hell that Pruitt looks to the next week or holds anything back. He knows this rivalry. He's lived on both sides of the win-lose situation. He may, in fact, (speculation) want to win this game more than the fans do.

Regarding Saban and all his assistants who have become coaches - at some point, the student becomes the master, right? Not saying Pruitt is the one that becomes the master, but so far, none of Saban’s other assistants have.

Just saying...

It might work out to four games... but the odds of keeping a guy like Peterson in school long enough for a RS to matter are very small. The Thornton Center is going to have a tougher job than Fitz. If he's ready to play against SCAR, give him the reps and see if he can help us down the stretch.
They haven’t lost one yet. You underestimate them.

Wish we had Khalil McKenzie... he would be a huge help this year.

Not me. Personally feel that he was one of the supposed leaders in the locker room that helped foster the entitlement mentality along with the weight room slacker/ quitter reaction to last year's adversity. He left early for a reason, and it seems obvious that he abandoned the dedication to TN that he had when he was first recruited to play here.

THIS....

Folks have got to quit thinking that just because we are clearly improving every week and played an exceptional game last week, that all of a sudden this will be a close or tight game this weekend... Just get through this without any injuries and try to run the table the remainder of the season. Four and Five star WR's will be lining up across our true freshman and a very thin D overall for four quarters... They will hang 40-50 on us, depending on Saban's mood with Pruitt, but we need to just stay focused on the big picture and learn from this. LA Vol is spot on-- after this weekend if we are still healthy, all the other teams on our schedule should be dogfights...

And I'll add, we have to expect this to be a blowout. So, while it's happening Saturday can we please not do our usual meltdown acting like it's not supposed to happen. If it turns out better than expected we can be pleased.
