Oh great, the Pruitt will leave us for Bama talk again.. yawn.

The funny part is one of the top 5 coaches in the country right now replaced the all time winningest coach in college football history with a promotion from within.

Two coaches in last years playoffs were in young buck head coaches with Under 2 years experience

But all of a sudden here Pruitt has to win the east before he could follow their paths. It makes no sense as his resume is every bit as strong as Fisher, smart and Riley when they were hired at big time jobs

Let's at least wait until Pruitt wins the SEC East before worrying about him being hired away. Beating SCAR, UK, Vandy and Mizzou, getting those extra bowl practices and signing a big recruiting class is enough to worry about this year.

This. Last week it was how soon to fire Pruitt, this week it is will Alabama take our coach because he is just that good.

Be happy for once, or at least talk about football not administrative nonsense. Our team looks good and on the upswing. If you want to look into the future, we have a surprisingly good defensive line that will need to be replaced next year.

Maybe you can help me remember... What was Saban's resume like when they hired him?

How shot is Butch's career??? I get if Bama wins a championship this year, Butch will get a ring as well. But does any team hire him as a headcoach after becoming intern at Alabama?

247 did a mid-season Freshman All-American team. Cade Mays was one of the OL listed. The DB’s were Andre Cisco (Syracuse), Patrick Surtain (Alabama), Caden Sterns (Texas), Jevon Holland (Oregon), and Jaycee Horn (USCe). Neither of ours made it.

Very much like Dabo's. I am sure he will be the first choice. Smart will be the second. I assume no way Smart takes it. I doubt Dabo would either but I hope that is what happens

I wouldn't trade our freshmen CB duo for any other in the country. Both are already playing at a high level, and they are not even close to their ceilings; however, Pruitt will get them there.

From this guy to Pruitt. It’s like comparing a hill to Everest in terms of coaching knowledge and ability. Indicative of the terrible leadership at TN until Fulmer took over

Butch was never a "football" coach, he was a figure head that if he happened to hire the right assistants who recruited and coached well he would have a bit of success. He road that for as long as he could. He might get an FCS head coaching gig at some point riding the Bama coattails. I'm so glad he is gone, and that we now have a "Football" coach and an AD that knows what it takes to win as a high level. I just hope that Fulmer will not meddle to much and let Pruitt and his coaches do their thing.

If I were in a similar situation Pruitt was in and lets say I was coaching Bama who had been just wallowing in mediocrity and Tennessee had won 5 titles in 10 years or whatever it is and the coach retired or left for NFL. I don't know if I would want to follow that said coach. The only way to go is down. You will never be as successful as him. I would let somebody else come in and get run out of town and then if I had been successful enough leave if offered and be viewed as a savior to the program. Following Saban is going to be awful for whoever does it.

That said I'm no even sure Pruitt would be in their top 10. I mean guys like Dabo, Dantonio, and Fisher would surely be higher on any list they have. Pruitt's only thing right now is that he was a former player.

Question: Is it better for the Vols if Auburn tanks and we can potentially take advantage in recruiting? Or is it better for the Vols if Auburn bounces back and wins some games where our win looks better perception wise and feels better for us?
If it means we get Pappeo. Yes.

1979 vs Notre Dame coming out of the doldrums of Battle allowing the program's demise and Majors rebuilding it. Someone posted a pic of an art print from that game in the ff recently.
I was 14 and in the stands that day. It is still in my top 5 all time and might be my favorite one live.

Dabo took a while to get that program going at Clemson too. Granted he'd have much quicker success recruiting at Bama than he did his first few years at Clemson, but expectations would be through the roof as well. No way I'd leave Clemson in that situation.

year 4 Dabo won the ACC. different animal than winning the SEC, especially today vs. back then. but i think it's still fair that by year 3 or 4 you could reasonably expect to be in the coversation for winning the East and playing for the SEC.

which really means, make it to October still in it. can't lose to GA and FL in september and still be in it.
