We will have more than enough D against Mizzou and Mizzou will not have near enough D against our O. They have no stand out WR's for Locke. Mizzou was #85 in scoring D before the loss to Bama at 28.8 points per game. Their last 4 games they gave up 37, 43, 37 and 39 points. They have to play UK, UF and Vandy before us. They play Memphis next and that may be a track meet. Our scoring D was #63 at 25.6 before yesterday. Our schedule to date has been much tougher than theirs. Pressure Locke, win game.

Key to yesterday's win and going forward is the turnover and field position battle. Just look at the UF game.

Yesterday we forced 3 turnovers and didnt cough up the ball. We didn't put the D in bad spots. We kept putting their O in bad field position and allowed D to play more aggressive.

We continue to play like this and we have a legit shot to win the rest of our games outside of Bama.

Ya man. Joe Doyle had a great game and was a big contributor to field position advantage.

Maybe I missed it but surprised there hasn’t been more talk about how in each of our last three big SEC wins (Florida, UGA, and now Auburn) Jennings caught the go ahead TD pass.

Thats because JJ is a

Mizzou won’t beat us. Their defense is terrible first of all. Second, yes they have a good QB, but in case you haven’t noticed, no QBs have done anything against us since Grier. And this is a different team than the team that played Grier. Unlike then, we aren’t having major busts in the secondary. Also unlike then, we actually have a pass rush. Grier had all day against us to pick us apart, Lock won’t. We’ll win that game.

I agree, but Fair needs to do some heavy work with the Frosh DB's before this game... our secondary will be tested the entire game.

Great weekend and we should all enjoy it but we need to realize that both Dooley and Jones had wins in year 1 where we all thought it was a sign we had our coach ready to lead us back into national prominence. We still have to get to 6 wins before this season moves the needle more than those 2 years imo

Been rewatching bits and pieces of the game this afternoon. At the midway point of the season, I think we're starting to see a good bit of improvement from week to week with this team. I see a lot of guys getting better/developing as the season progresses. Defensive staff has found a way to take what they have, and mold a pretty decent defense out of these guys. Offensively, it's really nice to see Helton finding ways to get the ball into the hands of our playmakers. Leaving out Alabama of course, we just beat the best team remaining on our schedule yesterday IMO. When I say beat them, we beat them. Nothing fluky about it whatsoever. If this team stays healthy and continues to improve from week to week like I think they will, I think we'll have a pretty good shot to make a bowl game, which will be monumental for the program. Yesterday was huge.

What win would you say Dooley had that was significant in year 1? I remember the Butch win against South Carolina.

Unless my memory is off the ole miss game in Knoxville was a game where we all thought the corner was being turned. It was after the near miss against LSU.

Of course me memory might be off but I think that was his first year

I like these type questions. Barring unforeseen events, all 5. Not being Ron either.

The toughest may be USCe. They get the off week, are at home, and we may be dinged up from Bama. Just two O playmakers - Deebo and Edwards. Their D and the rest of the O are average or below. They are treading water as a team. We are improving weekly and have more playmakers on both sides of the ball. Our talented freshmen corners are maturing and match up well with both of their playmakers. That frees the rest to focus on the QB and RB. They have nobody to stop our WR's if JG is on at all. Playing on the road is not an issue now. I'll take the team that is trending up.

The next toughest is UK, whose schedule toughens and whose offense is becoming really stagnant. Their D is good, but no better than Auburn's. Their game against Mizzou will expose both team's flaws to our staff. Add in they have to play UGA and get beat up some more before us. Mizzou is one dimensional - their D is just not good. Pressure Locke, win game. Vandy and Charlotte are Vandy and Charlotte. Just stay focused on one game at a time.
Nothing wrong with being Ron. I was right. We kicked Auburn’s ass and no reason we won’t do the same the rest of the way minus Bama.

Yeah dumb comparison.

His wins were UTM, UAB, Memphis, 4-8 OM, 2-10 Vandy, 6-7 Kentucky.

Ole miss had destroyed us the year before and we absolutely routed them with a freshmen QB we thought was the future.

I agree it wasn't as good a win as yesterday but this auburn team isn't going to win a lot more games either though

I don't think anyone considered that a corner-turning victory. We were all happy we finally got a good win that year, but Ole Miss was not that great of a team at the time. Two 9-4 seasons in the years leading up to 2010. And the year before was when we beat a ranked South Carolina team on Halloween in the Kiffin all-black jerseys.
