Barn TD at the end

Does anyone know why there was no run off for the false start penalty? Was the clock stopped on that play? or was it something else?

Had they hit the ground it wouldn’t have been a catch as he didn’t maintain control
Even after watching the replay I’m not sure it would have been called a catch with an official review
The ruling on the field was definitely questionable but Barn got the benefit of the doubt. A review probably doesn’t change the ruling on the field on this one, because it was kind of borderline whether he really had control. Had the ruling on the field been against Barn I don’t think a review overturns that one either.

It's because the clock was not running prior to the play. I believe they spiked it right before

I initially thought "that's not a catch, that's an INT."

But.....watch the guy's body language. He knew he made the catch, and so when the defensive player started off with the ball, he made no effort to catch him.

If there would have been doubt, he would have instantly gone after the ball, but no. He caught it, and he knew he caught it.

Not trying to sound like an a-hole, but that's not the standard. It's irrelevant what his body language was. You have to clearly demonstrate possession of the ball and he never did. The ball went from hitting his hands to immediately slipping down onto his right hip and then squirting around behind his back. He was clearly trying to grasp it, but never did. Why would he continue to try to get a hold of the ball if he was so sure he had already caught it? It doesn't make sense.

It doesn't matter now, so I guess I really shouldn't care. But that was not a catch. I think Gaffney may have actually held onto the ball longer.

I'm happy with the win but...... was that a catch? No review, no nothing. I dont think he had control of the ball, should have been a pick or at least reviewed. And I guess the Barn bought the holding get out of jail free card today.
Strange to me that was not reviewed... I score it as a pick.

Yep. They stopped the clock when a guy’s forward progress was whistled dead in bounds. They stopped a clock when a guy was clearly tackled near the sideline but in bounds. They stopped the clock on the 4th and 4 first down and didn’t start it back until they snapped the ball.

How about the face mask on Marquez's kick-off return (should have been called) and the late hit out of bounds (could have been called)? That was two potential penalties on the same play, but of course no flags were thrown. And what about the false start not called on their first TD run? There were more, but we were very fortunate to overcome some very poor officiating.

It was definitely a funky and questionable play. I'm really not sure he had full control before tossing the ball.

I didn’t see that many worthy plays for auburn. Maybe they used some 2003 footage 😂

I watched the play about two dozen times and I don't see any way he had possession.

I don't think he was showboating; rather he was just bobbling it the whole way. I do think he tried to play it off like he caught it and tossed it aside to sell the refs, though.

Should've been reviewed, overturned, and called an interception for us.

The refs were trying hard to get them in the endzone. We tackled their tight end in bounds and that ref was right in front of it and said he got out. What a crock. And no that receiver did not have control of the ball long enough, that was a interception all the way and they don't even look at. But by him signaling TD that kinda ended any chance of a replay. They couldn't call it incomplete or a int because they automatically signaled TD. That last drive was horrible officiating. GBO!!!!!
