I think our team is soft. They don’t seem to have any dog in the them. OLine isn’t mean, DL isn’t mean, LB’s aren’t mean and QB Guarantano (sp) doesn’t have the stare of a winner.

This to me is the BJ effect. I think Butch got 4 and 5 star players with very little love for the game and physical play. He got the softees.

Players like Jennings, Warrior and the Juco DL they all have a mean streak. This is why we’re not only getting beat we’re getting our asses kicked. Florida was mean and wanted to fight, we’re passive and they handed our ass too us.

Until we recruit the wussy out of our team we won’t know what kind of staff we have. You can’t coach a kid to have a mean steak.

1. What is “the stare of a winner”? Never heard of it.

2. Warrior May have a mean streak, especially when he’s busting a teammates eye....but that “mean streak” has led to him turning down contact and not giving 100% in trying to get to ball carriers so far this year....(see Justin Fields td run Saturday)

3. Otherwise, would agree with your general point....team is soft with very little fight and the way to solve it is with recruiting a different breed of player.

I'd like to know what the stare of a winner looks like for future reference. Thanks

I get what the OP is talking about.

No light in the eyes. Generally looks defeated, and dejected even when things are going ok.

Wrong, wrong wrong wrong WRONG!

Been sitting quietly reading this junk. For a while.....

Team is not soft they’re Moldable
Offensive line is Unfinished
Defense is Developing
LB’s are beginning to Understand
QB is Guarded

Totally change offensive scheme without adequate offensive line depth and (sub-par development from previous coach). Then top that with a new style of defense.
Ya got to let it cook.

However:

Will concede that I hate Florida and I do believe in Karma.

The wussification of America is real, but I do believe this team is learning. Eventually ya just get tired of getting you’re tail whooped and ya fight back....with all ya flipping have. It’s human nature. We knew this coming in. Why complain?
I ask what can we do to help?

Yeah this team is soft but not unfixable. Pruitt is teaching them and they are coming around. Some faster than others. However I do not understand how offensive linemen can stand around and not hit someone. Hit someone in the other jersey. Just hit'em. I don't understand why that's such a problem.

Yeah they're soft, like Rocky when he meets Mr. T the first time in Rocky III. That makes Pruitt Apollo Creed. He's teaching 'em new footwork and how to use the speedbag and how to race on the beach in embarrassingly short shorts. Gotta get 'em that eye of the tiger! Somebody play me some Survivor.

Disagree on this. Players take on the mold of their coach, they quit, or they're chased off. No one has quit. Sapp tried to leave. He came back and had one of, if not his best game to date...that's coaching. Before you say it, it takes time for guys to totally grasp "getting it" some of the time, vs all of the time...why Pruitt talks so much about learning to strain. I could be way off and entirely wrong, but, to me, Pruitt just feels alot different than Butch or Dooley. You can tell the dude loves football, and just loves to coach and develop relationships with players (see all the UGA players that came to talk to him after the game). You can also tell he's about as straight forward as it gets...tells it like it is. None of us like it, but similar to when Barnes took over, it took a bit for him to instill "his way"...now he's winning with a bunch of 3 star guys, and starting to sign higher level guys. I think Pruitt will follow this path. First we need to upgrade OL and DL...things will start to develop once we can do this...but, this is why Pruitt was out recruiting today, and let Fulmer talk to the Knoxville QB Club instead.
