I’ve been thinking back to ‘13. I recall getting slap embarrassed in Oregon. That was a far better team than Florida, and we expected a rout. It was so bad though that I remember wondering if Butch could ever right the ship.
Well, the team rebounded and beat a very good SC team. I cried in the stands as I watched our players have something to celebrate because THEY deserved it. We all had hope after that.
All I’m looking for right now is something to give the team and the fans that same hope. We don’t know the future, but hope can go a long way. Play tough, rebound from mistakes, win a game you shouldn’t, be competitive, sign a good class, etc.
Anything for hope for these players who deserve it as much or more that that ‘13 team did.
They mean nothing. Especially since it's being revealed more and more about how the sausage is made at Rivals. I wouldnt be surprised to find kids/parents/coaches of prominent HS throwing cash at these groups to get a bump. If you think about it, the fact that they host all of these camps that likely cost money to attend, it's already common practice.
Vacationing in Hilton Head now. Went to Starbucks to check in on office stuff and get a few minutes of quiet from the grandkids. Go back to my truck, parked in the back of the lot away from most traffic, and notice a paint covered crease in my door matching the paint of the Mercedes SUV parked next to me. The women sitting inside had to slam the door wide open, because the vehicles weren't that close. And as you would expect, she went out of her way to avoid looking up at me while I was standing there. While I assume she had to be aware and simply didn't care, the intersection of stupid and rude is tricky.
Culture is a B.S. analytical device that has become the buzzword d'jour. All of our players want to win and are willing to work hard. Most of them are playing in new systems that do not necessarily fit their skill sets. Even our best player is playing tackle instead of his natural position at guard. Quit blaming the players for CJP's insistence on implementing his system this year instead of adapting to something that might actually accentuate the skills for which most of our current roster was recruited. Tired of the player blaming.
Fire Pruitt. He hates himself.Vol Calls (Pruitt's comments)
Find out a lot about yourself after you face adversity.
It’s easier to play defense (make checks) on the road because the home team is usually quite when their team is on offense.
We have a lot of guys who want to be the best football players they can be. They didn’t know how to get there when we first got here.
Guarantano feels good about where he’s at from a health perspective.
Quarte’ Sapp is practicing and everything is good.
Redshirt rule – can be tough for a coaching staff if after coaching a guy for 4 years and then 4 games into the 4th year he decides to transfer.
Anytime you put in a new offensive system you’ll have bumps in the road. We have some good offensive minds in our room.
Offensive identity needs to spread the ball around and go sideline to sideline and stretch field. You’ve got to also be able to run the ball when the defense knows you’re going to run.
Most recruits look at a school probably mostly because of the coaching staff.
We’ll approach the Georgia game like any other.
On if Chryst will play against Georgia - Keller takes reps with the 1’s every day. JG has been beat up. So we’ll see when the game gets here.
You make the call on whether or not to go for it on 4th down on 1st down because that decision affects the play calling on all the downs leading up to the 4th down.
Thinks we’ve had our best 2 weeks of practice the last couple weeks. Thinks we’re improving and will continue to improve every week if we continue to work hard.
Repeating maxims as a team is very impressive but it’s more than just saying the words. We really need to be able to put on more steam when the breaks go against us.
Guarantano works really hard every day. He’s really smart, gets it the first time. Has good feet and a good arm. Needs to have a bigger impact on his teammates. He’s improved every week and is developing some confidence that will help us down the road.
Micah strains everyday but needs more faith in himself. Recruited him in high school so have always thought highly of him.
Mincey is out for a couple weeks due to the injury he sustained in warmups last week.
We had some guys on our team that played their best game Saturday. We need everybody to step up and do that.
Retells the story of taking Kirby’s wife to the hospital when their twins were on the way.
We have guys who can go high point the football. (The question was, are you going to try to get the receivers more involved on 1st and 2nd down. He didn’t directly answer the question for obvious reasons).
Thought this past Monday we saw a lot of evidence that we’re moving in the right direction with the program and as a team.
We have to start the games better offensively in the first half.
We’ve improved in tons of areas since we’ve been here. Thinks we’ve improved every week. Not disappointed in kids at all but am disappointed in myself for not having them better prepared already.
Not me
I’m enjoying seeing these guys improve
I like our defensive style and really like who your offense is gonna be once our guys get another year of s/c and some recruits
I've all but checked out this year. It's just not worth the heartache
Auerbach: An open letter to all potential redshirt-rule...
For a little more clarification on the transfer/redshirt issue
-SimontonHow many players from Tennessee's 63-37 win over Mizzou — the program's last SEC win — are still actively involved on the team now?
