Things I want to see Saturday:

Limit turnovers. 2 or less.

Make Georgia drive the field. Make them go 50+ for scores.

Take some shots. We have nothing to lose in this game, push the ball down field.

Stay aggressive. Fake a punt, go for it on 4th and short, maybe another onside kick.

Don't quit. No matter what the score, give 110%

& GBFO.

Also happy birthday to me, turn 27 tomorrow🙃

Wow. That 2013 schedule we played was unreal. Oregon was #2, UF 19, Uga 6, Scar 11, bama 1, Mizzou 10, Auburn 9. Oregon finished #9, Scar and Mizzou 4 and 5, Auburn 2, Bama 7, Vandy 24.

That’s why all records are not created equal. Probably Butch’s best coaching job, considering the talent. Could have beaten UGA and Vandy. If Oregon isn’t on the schedule, we probably make a bowl.

So. you just disproved your own point. How we played the first 2 years under Jones gave reason believe he would get it done.

Yea, but not sure it’s the opposite. My point was even Butch Jones won a game he wasn’t supposed to. I guess we could go the Mark Stoops route and give a coach all the time in the world, but we aren’t UK. We get much better talent. Not saying I am down on Pruitt, but within a couple of years, you have an idea based on whether or not you can beat Vandy, UK, Mizzou, or USC.

Truth be told, I think Pruitt just tries to get through these next 3 games without too many injuries. If KC goes in for a hurt JG, we will be ultra conservative, just to preserve KC for final 4 games. 1 yd and a cloud of dust.

I don't think there's a whole lot of similarities between cjp and CBJ other than they both coached here.

I haven't once gotten the impression there are any correlations to be made between how the last staff recruits vs how this one does.

Not the point. I don’t care how, I care that the studs we have committed actually sign. Despite a losing season, Hurd, TKJr, Barnett, etc, stayed committed. Again, recruiting is EVERYTHING now.

I think you're over analyzing things a bit

It is interesting and I’d like to hear as many opinions as possible on this:

Has Jeremy Pruitt gotten the same buy in from Tennessee fans that our previous coaches received? Of course we all support him and wish him well, but it seems like as a whole, the fan base is sticking to the “prove it” narrative and up to this point it feels like we are much more neutral on him.

Am I off base here?
I am a big time sunshine pumper, but I am not convinced he is the guy. He does need to show us something. The team has to improve some this year. What I mean is that we have to get better as the year progresses. I don't think we looked any better in Game 4 than we did in Game 1.

I think our D has. I feel that they have made that step forward in improving. I thought they played a pretty sound game considering. Yes there was some poor tackling on a play or two but I am encouraged with their improvement.

I've said this many times but I'll say it again. Jeremy Pruitt is still learning to be a head coach. The learning curve is steep in the SEC. I think he's got more learning to do this year and it will show. Good thing is he's got a great mentor in CPF at his fingertips. He also has been a part of several championship level programs. This year will be ugly at tines, heck most of the time. Bright spots will be few. Scratch your head moments will be a plenty. I don't think we'll see much improvement this year. I think all the experiences this year will benefit the program next year. I've already resigned myself to this version of the Vols will be more of the bad news bears variety. Recruiting is the most important stat to watch this year. All JMO.

I agree about recruiting. I also agree that he is having growing pains. I just have not seen much from this well paid staff to this point that is translating into positive results. The roster was much worse than most of us thought. That will improve, I believe. We will see if they can be developed better than the previous staff did. The development of our DBs to this point is encouraging. We have to try and be more creative on offense. Scheme a little bit around our OL.

If it appears we are giving max effort, coaches and players, I am willing to take my lumps.

I'm not certain this staff is 100% settled. I think the old saying about you see the most improvement from week one to week two, year one to year two. I think he'll be a much better head coach next year than he is this year.

Ok, so here are my numerated thoughts for the morning.

1. Enjoy or don't: There are an exceptionally small % of us on here who make their living covering Tennessee football. As such, we only watch for one reason, to increase the quality of our lives through the enjoyment of the games. Take a look in the mirror... if you are not able to enjoy this, maybe you should take some time off and pursue some other hobbies, or watch some other games this fall. I get it. I'm a fan too. Watching the game on Sunday (video) I was stressed before it began, I shouted at my son when he accidentally deleted the file before the game began. When I found another version, the video began with Chryst at QB when JG had lost his helmet, and I went into a panic thinking JG had been injured. Like everyone else, I shouted at the TV and got way too emotional over the whole deal. It was meant to be a close game, and they threw it all away. Emotions happen in this case. I will not be nearly as emotionally invested in the coming games.

2. Adjust expectations: If you choose to continue watching this season, I recommend adjusting your expectations going into it. Be loose. Relax. We are going to lose the next 3 games.. at least, and it will suck, so why expend the energy on it? Look for development. See what players are starting to shine. How is the playcalling going? Try to find hope for the future. If these next 3 games will give you nothing but misery, check out. I won't judge your "true fandom". Remember, it's for your entertainment. I can guarantee you are not going to fully "enjoy" the games, but try to find something to enjoy in the games. I don't watch musicals for the same reason some of you may want to skip the next few games. After that, maybe we'll have some hope in November, but let's see how this plays out first.

3. No, this is not settling: After the WV game, I used the illustration of my kids continually peeing all over the bathroom. It still applies. This team is not ready to compete, but they are where they are in this stage of their development. We've got to live with that in the short term, but that doesn't mean we are settling for that in the long term. After years of working with them, my kids still can't seem to get the tinkle in the toilet... but sometimes they flush. I've got to settle for the occasional flush now, and keep working on the manfruit spray all over the place. This team is capable of 3-5 wins... and I'm leaning pretty heavily towards 3. The coaches have the long-term task of improving from there.

I guess that's it.

Fire Nick! He can't get his kids to pee in the toilet.
