The OL is a freaking discombulated mess with no answer..Do you guys really not see how that severely retards gameplanning?

Looking at the playcalling, you’d assume our OL doesn’t retard game planning at all and we have a bunch of road graders who impose their will on all opponents.

I’m not saying we don’t need to be patient with Helton and Pruitt. They’ve never been in this situation before. They both obviously have a lot of football knowledge.

But there’s no way to deny that there needs to be some kind of development or improvement in playcalling.

You are so full of crap. You couldnt wait to jump on these guys.

There was opportunity following the WVU game and the UTEP game. Yet I’m only chiming in after the biggest IT football debacle in at least the last ten years. Everyone sucked Saturday night, and I’m going to vent about it.

I don’t buy much of that. I get that there is a lack of talent on the roster, but some of you are building it up that there is a full blown insurgency of sleeper agents dedicated to undermining Pruitt. If that’s really the case, he’s got to weed them out better.

No one is saying that. Hyperbole in its finest.

We both agree that the lack of talent is a major issue. Maybe it's THE issue. However, I saw a lot of mental errors on Saturday night, and, quite frankly, a lack of giving a sh*t from numerous players. That's a real concern to me. Unfortunately, unless we have a mass exodus in the off season, it's not going to get better until those players are processed out.

Yea, that was an embarrassment. What's got me confused is it seems TS was better last year. You'd think with Fitz and a new coach he'd be even more dominant.

If we'd gotten in his face or retaliated I'm about 100% certain we'd have drawn the flag and probably someone would have been ejected.

I'm surprised that the media hasn't really been out front with the story. It's obvious the thug was trying to mess up JG's knee.
He was. That's because he's not a tackle. He's a guard. Put him where he belongs and let him excel.

Lack of talent is not the issue.

This team is missing it between the ears and it happened sometime late in 2016. Whatever moxie they finally mustered during the second half of the '16 Florida game left like a passing cloud by the end of the year. Now they just wait around for everything to go to crap so they can feel sorry for themselves. There are no play-makers, no difference makers. I have not seen this defense come downhill like a freight train like Florida's did Saturday in the first quarter. I have not seen an amazing catch against a real opponent or a highlight reel run. Austin Pope's fumble essentially ended the game and that was due to the team ready and waiting for it to happen. JG is tough as nails but is a walking victim. He cannot overcome adversity and carry the team. Using four running backs is stupid. It cost us the game Saturday and it cost Oregon their game too. You need a bell cow back who can get lathered up and you can ride with a change a pace guy sprinkled in. That is not rocket science. Its proven to work.

Does the OLine suck? Yep. Play call around it. Roll outs. Sweeps. Make the DE pay for crashing. Quick slants to the FB or TE. Make the LBs pay for blitzing. Helton went into a shell Saturday after the first two series but also he had zero confidence in JG. You don't have to wait 5 seconds to throw a deep ball. You can throw it in 1.5...you ANTICIPATE where the WR will be. JG can't do it.

Our defense is sound but I'm not seeing head hunters. Guys that are being shot out of cannons. We need those badly and that is not talent per say, its attitude.

We will get completely torn to pieces the next four games. We all know that. Pruitt needs to pick up what's left after the storm and mold their minds into something that resembles a winning, aggressive, pissed off group of fighters. Will he?

That's good stuff, Newt. But I think talent is also an issue.

Some caller on Ainge's show said Osborne was into it with a coach on Saturday night too. Said players had to separate them. Ainge says there is about 20 players over there that have not bought in.
If you haven’t bought in by now, then I say leave. You are taking away reps from guys who have bought in and want to be there.

lot here i can't argue with. i don't know that talent isn't the issue. but the rest of what you have here is spot on.

cause regardless of talent level, you can still have leaders and effort that resemble what you're talking about.

they don't pass the eye test in that regard, at all. also agree about Helton. he was shell shocked, and whatever game plan we may have had, seemed to get tossed, and there wasn't a plan B.

Yes, it’s a mess, and yes, it severely limits game planning and play calling. Imo that’s MORE reason to not be so predictable and call some quick hitter pass plays on 1st down when the D is expecting run. Being predictable makes it WORSE on the OL. Doesn’t have to be elaborate scheme changes, just change up the play calls.
Ok..I'll agree with a caveat. I believe the point of all the running on first down is to severly keep the snaps down for the very thin defense..

It obviously does not work when the offense turns the ball over..and yes it is predictable. I believe they are trying to trade predictability for time. It obviously does not work when the offense can not execute the simplest of plays. How do you call plays that work when there is literally a breakdown by someone on EVERY FREAKING PLAY. I bet Helton would love to throw the kitchen sink at them, but he can't get these idiots to execute anything right..I'd say he wishes he had never taken this job. I bet they are all loving watching their careers and reputations disappear before their eyes. Pruitt already looks like a zombie half the time you see him. They are working their lives away trying to get this team to perform.

Bullcrap..you didn't like the hire to start with, and waited till you knew you had a bunch of pissed off guys that would listen.

I guess you are ecstatic about the opportunity to stir up discord in the next few weeks.

There are many teams with less talent than us that are performing far better. These guys know how to play and they are expecting to lose. Its been that way for a while and honestly I don't know how to change it anymore.
They have no freaking idea how to play, or play tough. They are the softest Tennessee team I have ever seen.
