Too many mental issues that have carried over from the old regime. With the exceptions of maybe Jennings, Smith (who had a shocking game), Chandler, Callaway, and perhaps JG....the remainder of players from the Lyle regime are so mentally checked out they shouldn't be out there performing. It wasn't because of they were more talented than we are. It was because the UT squad isn't tuned in. They don't perform as a unit. The offensive line struggles are a perfect example but it holds true on defense as well.

So the Florida team just shook McElwain that quick by sheer chance? Doubtful. They actually have a coach with a pulse.

I've literally said this to myself to this almost every year with Tennessee. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it gets worse with Tennessee football. I'm having a hard time getting myself to accept that we're just a second tier program. All the blue blood programs come back eventually, but I'm starting to think that Tennessee will be the one that never does.
I think we will eventually...but things have to change. And I'm not talking about shuffling coaches every few years...things from the very very top down. This program is rotten and cancerous...I think Fulmer I think knows what it takes to be successful but will have the resources and freedom to put them in place? I have my doubts.

I think Fulmer needs to come out and give Pruitt five years guaranteed. This is going to take a long time to fix and we can’t let fan angst hold us back. Look north to Kentucky! They have been incredibly patient with Stoops and are being rewarded.

That’s my view after this debacle.

My other observation is that I was surprisingly indifferent when things started falling apart. I’ve seen us do it so many times it no longer surprises me. My fandom has taken an odd turn... not sure what to make of that. I no longer feel that stinging program pride I used to feel... just want to see competent football some day that’s all.

I think we're going to have to give Pruitt time. Unless he just completely falls on his face, give him 5 or 6 years. I'm to the point to where I just don't know about this program anymore. Tennessee football is about the only thing that can get me down. I've always been a "don't care if the sun don't shine" kinda guy, but this trash gets me to the core.

BS.

Bad teams that aren't prepared look like we did tonight.

There's no excuse for what we saw
Sure there is...these players are ruined mentally. I don't care how good a coach you are, there is only so much you can do to coach this amount of mental weakness out. It sure as hell won't get done 4 games into season 1.
