Idk about week to week but they are significant improvements all over the field.
JG is playing better than i thought he would’ve at this point.
All our interior DL are playing very well.
We have 3 very promising young DBs.
Kirkland is healthy and doing good things.
I’m enjoying this. Losing Kennedy sucks. I wish he could’ve stayed an anchor at C.
@HankHill,
I have 2 questions about JG that I was wondering if you could shed any light on.
1) Pruitt has talked about the QB having the responsibility of getting us in the right play depending on how the defense aligns after we break huddle. How are we doing on that? I understand it is a learning process. Pruitt also said we were seeing fewer negative yardage plays so I figured this may be part of the reason for that if we're getting better at it. I know JG missed a lot of time in HS and is still a pretty young QB in the SEC. How's he doing managing the offense?
2) Pruitt has pointed out when JG throws to one receiver when another is in a better position to make a play. Are these isolated occurrences or does it happen more often? Is the reason for this potentially JG having some legitimate concerns about his protection holding up and not allowing himself time to see the full field (i.e. not wanting to take a sack)? I'm figuring the more experience he gets the more the game will slow down for him. How do you think he's doing reading his progressions? Does he even have that many progressions? Have you seen the playbook?
Additional questions:
3) While we’ve used these first three games to gain some experience for a lot of guys and to try to build some depth can we expect to see a more limited number of participants in games going forward as long as the game remains competitive? (i.e., the real season starts now/best players on the field?)
4) Is Chance Hall physically ready to play a full game?
5) I’ve noticed we don’t consistently set the edge and thus lose contain resulting in explosive running plays. I think this is a discipline issue. Do you think this will get corrected?
6) Do you think the staff will allow JG to try to stretch the field against elite SEC defenses?
7) Do you think the guys in our secondary are ready to cover SEC caliber receivers like those listed below?
Thanks in advance. I'll hang up and listen.
