We need to stop pretending we can be a power running team this year. Our OL is only decent at pass pro but can't run block worth a damn. Air it out with JG and our skills guys - WRs, TEs are good. Cut the RB rotation and give Chandler as much as he can handle - get him the ball any way you can.

It seems we block ok on misdirections and pitch plays

According to espn we had more hits on the QB this week then the previous two games combined. Also had 2 sacks compared to just 1. Granted, I’m sure a lot of that is because Locksley seemed to hold the ball longer than Grier and ETSU but it’s still nice to see improvement there

Great game for the Vols. Showed exactly the growth we needed to see. These two games were never going to show more than progress and improved fundamentals. Check on both.

59-0 would not mean anything more to me than this.

I did not see the Florida game, but surface level view of the numbers would leave me very concerned if I was a Gator. Final score does not seem to tell the story... in the opposite way ours fails to tell the story.

Look forward to presenting the Game Thread this week... still not sure who I’m picking

Show of hands...which of you wanted Chip Kelly, again?
Not me.
He may end up fine or even good out west (maybe), may have even done well at UF with their talent rich state. But none of that would reflect at Tennessee.

The SEC is still the "Jimmys and Joes" and you have to recruit here. Not a good fit.

I feel like at least some of that performance can be attributed to a noon kick, a crap opponent, and a home night game against Florida next week. It doesn't completely excuse the amount of mental errors but the team that played yesterday won't be the one that shows up next Saturday imo.

My wife notices details...like the horrible sounding announcer who seemed to be utilizing an electrolarynx. I picked up on the horrible sounding conversation between the whole announcing crew, where they stated everything ā€œwould be ok when Kelly gets ā€˜HIS OWN RECRUITS’ in thereā€. Like the QB? And with his upcoming class having no one higher than a 3 star so far, that sounds promising. Errybody gonna pull Oregon out dey azz, but Chip took over a Mike Bellotti stocked team that he had coordinated for a season after being a career FCS assistant. His offense was a new and revolutionary upgrade to the Rich Rodriguez application and he had mad success before hightailing it to the pros ahead of recruiting violations. He doesn’t have the same blueprint currently. Not only have defenses caught up to his scheme, but he doesn’t have a Scott Frost or Mark Helfrich to bring in the type of talent that contributed to him being a ā€œhome run hireā€. Mora ultimately failed before him but recruiting wasn’t a problem. Chip Kelly chose UCLA because the Pac-12 isn’t the cutthroat recruiting meat market that is the SEC. He still needs to do better than he is currently...or we’re going to witness his third consecutive coaching face plant.

Humor is the only thing keeping us semi sane. Don't take that away too. Save it for someone who's actually serious.

We all know most of the recruits remaining in our radar are in wait and see mode. Hopefully Pruitt can keep things moving toward improvement and put together a bowl game season.

Until then just have fun..... Right?
Looks like I was the asshat. Let's enjoy the ride.

As long as we are dropping the deuce in all our coach search darlings, Matt Campbell is 0-2 at Iowa State... but played Oklahoma tough
I forgot about Matt. Didn't he lose his starting quarterback? (May have made that up in my head)

I may hate him in three years, but Pruitt just fits right now. He and his coaches don't tiptoe around. They obviously know football and recruiting. I don't know how Fulmer could have done any better as AD at that time.
