If UT loses to UF......

You may very well see another 0-8 SEC season.

I'm already on record as saying UT wont win a road SEC game this year. After seeing UF get thumped by Kentucky on their own field, I see one of two possibilities...

We beat UF and UK and go on to have a nice 7 win season or we lose to both of them and Vandy too and go 0-8 in the SEC again.

I think UF, UK and VU are our only viable SEC wins this year. If UF beats us, watch out.

Thanks for the team spirit, Mr. Wet Blanket

OK, fair enough. So you're prediction then is that we are somewhere between the 4th and 14th best team in the SEC?

I would agree, I wouldn't be shocked if we beat UF,UK, VU, UM or USCjr. I sure wouldnt be one of those dopes that calls one of those games a "signature win", like some said when Butch beat USCjr for the first time. Like I said, if we beat UF I think theres a lot of possibility ahead (when I say lots, I mean 7 wins at most). But that's way better than 4 wins.
I’m just curious on something. Is beating Florida a signature win when you say South Carolina isn’t? SC is thought to be better than UF and SC is on the road.

I love how people always say its a long season. College football is 12 short weeks. I believe its the shortest season in all of sports, college or pro. And theres no preseason like the NFL has. Do you really expect a bunch of teenagers to be THAT much better in just a few weeks? What I tend to see is that teams are at their very best at week 2 or 3 and because of injuries, lack of depth, and demoralization due to the fact that if you lose 2 or 3 of your first few games your season is all but a loss, it only goes downhill.

If players dont get that momentum out of the gate, it tends to be a "long season" in the minds of the fans because of all the losing, but in fact its a very short and brutal season.

Tee was AWFUL to start 98. He was a pretty solid QB by the end of the year though.

I'm sorry, which UT have you been watching the past few years? I'm trying hard to remember the UT team that got better as the season went by? Maybe I had it on the Longhorn network by mistake?
I’m sorry, I thought we hired new coaches or some crazy shizz like that.

UT can lose to Florida, go 2-6, and still have a good chance to go 6-6. Mizzou defense is weak and we may get into a shootout which I like our chances. KY didn’t impress me. They are still all over the place and unaware in tight situations. Almost gave the game to Florida again this year.
You like our chances in a shootout? Lol, that etsu game got you that fooled?

There appears to be few leaders on this Vol team and this is disturbing, just as Pruitt has alluded to in his exciting press meetings:)
How many wins this team can chalk up is unknown, but any conference win will help instill some measure of confidence to a team still searching for it's identity.
I don't think it will happen, but a win over the Gators would build confidence to a team that desperately needs positive results on the football field for momentum moving forward.
Go Vols

I wonder if the 0-8 guys are the same ones that think we should issue life vests to the players for Thursday -as the weather might get bad-if not Thursday, by Friday for sure-maybe we should think about evacuations for Knoxville, who knows what Might happen with the "Big" storm....

You should know better by now than to say that.
I'm cutting up, I do think we have a good chance to win though.

I also think outside of UGA, the rest of the east is so bad that we can't really make too many sweeping generalizations about what a loss to UF would mean, we're all going to knock each other off. It wouldn't surprise me at all if after Georgia, everyone else in the East is between 2-6 and 4-4.

Get ready for more "sky is falling," "let's quit playing now," etc. tired old quotes. Now you know better - this is Volition. It's SEC title or bust because, by jingo, we won a natty in '98. lol!!

I think we'll get the WIN over floriDUHHH.

That will have us 3-1 going into the 3 game gauntlet where it's 99% probable that we'll lose all 3 and be 3-4.

If we can get lucky and not have any major injuries then I also believe we'll get better as the season goes along.

If we stay healthy and get better then that gives us 5 more games to WIN 3 and make a bowl game.

1 of those 5 games should be a easy WIN and I'm going to keep my Big Orange glasses on and believe we can WIN 2 games out of Mizzou, USCe, KenSucky and the CommodeDoors.

That puts us in a bowl game and gets us those most important 15 extra practices and should help with recruiting.

I'll be very happy with 6-6 and back in a bowl game following a 4-8 and 0-8 SEC from last season.

That's a positive step in the right direction and maybe a 7th WIN in the bowl game.

VFL...GBO!!!

So, Vols will either beat the Gators or they won’t win an SEC game at all in 2018? Aight then...
UF is literally their only chance to win an SEC game.

Unless!....play calling has been vanilla on purpose to hide schemes from other teams!

I see zero cause and effect between FL and Vandy. There are a lot of games in between and a lot can happen. They are independent of one another completely. Makes no sense.

The only possible signature wins this year would be Bama, UGA or Auburn. Beating UF or USC would be a big win, but not outside of the realm of actually happening.

It's pretty easy to see, but most people just dont want to believe that it very well could happen.

I believe UT wont win an SEC road game this year. Brand new head coach, first year SEC head coach, sorry it aint happening.

That means losses to UGA, Barn, USCjr and Vandy (go ahead and hate on me, then lets talk at the end of the season)
so that leaves the home games:
UF, Bama, UK, and Mizzou

We most likely dont beat Bama or Mizzou (most people have already predicted this, so I'm not crazy in saying that)

That leaves UF and UK. And UK just beat UF in their own stadium which never ever happens. so it stands to reason that if we can't beat lowly UF, cant Kentucky repeat the same win in Neyland against a lesser team? Especially after a grueling schedule that will most likely result in a bunch of losses in a row?

That's why this UF game is so meaningful. If UT wins, they may be better than I thought and could win some other games down the road, like a win at Vandy or Kentucky.

Could it happen a different way? Sure, but that's not what I'm thinking will actually happen.
