The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

I've been watching 9/11 stuff all day on the History Channel, i cant believe it's been 17 years.
I was dead asleep after working a mid shift on patrol at Fairchild AFB when I got the call. Worked about 20 hours on the main entry point the next day and was on my way to the Middle East the day after that.

Holy ****, they shipped you out that fast?

I remember it was a little more hectic at my house because my father worked less than two miles from the Oak Ridge nuclear lab and they evacuated the whole city really quickly and they just evacuated without giving explanation other than because we are under attack. I think that’s the first time I stayed up past midnight I was watching the news all days. I was homeschooled at the time.

I was in Med school in Richmond Va. They mobilized us to treat injuries after the towers collapsed-there weren’t any. Victims died not were injured.

They probably evacuated all the workers from ORNL and Y-12, but as someone who was living in Oak Ridge at the time, I can say with 100% certainty they didn’t evacuate the entire city. I was a senior in HS at the time, and we didn’t even get to go home early, although a lot of people’s parents came and got them out of school.

I was in 7th grade

Locker room after fitness class. Sat there in my boxers as my ol goob fitness teacher told us that some planes had crashed into the World Trade Center. This day would go down similar to Pearl Harbor. Concluded by telling us that the World Trade Center were some important economic buildings in San Francisco. Quickly changed and went to my next class to watch the coverage on TV. Much to my surprise, these things were taking place in NY.

Stared at the TV in disbelief waiting for something else to happen but not knowing what. Only other time I’ve felt that way was watching Hurricane Katrina coverage in New Orleans. Just staring at the screen hoping to see something else or to wake up and it be a dream

I was working EMS that day and when the first plane hit, it was still unknown for certain at that time that it was intentional. We got a call and when we got to the hospital, we heard the news about the second plane, and then you knew it was an attack. Then the Pentagon, followed by Pennsylvania and it was all so surreal. I can relate to the firemen and first responders rushing into the chaos because that's what we do, but let's not forget those regular citizens that fought for control of Flight 92 and crashed it in an empty field.

I could be completely wrong on that. I do know they evacuated my dad’s office. I apologize.
