UT beats Florida at home, no doubt in my mind

Ehhh...

I’m back at 50%. The win was great but we gave up over 4 YPC, no sacks and the OL looked awful in the first quarter. We did some things, and I enjoyed the win, but it did nothing to increase my confidence in the team. Against ETSU, nothing was really going to do that

Florida, in the other hand, showed the weaknesses I expected and hoped for. Extremely interested to see the CSU game results before I make my prediction

This is where I am too. Still things that look concerning. Pruitt admitted the lack of pass rush is concerning.

The O Line needs to figure out how to match intensity early. Both weeks they got better against the defense after 2 or 3 series.

Postitives. D line putting their hands on the ball, TOs, freshmen DBs playing physical, #33, wide receiver depth, young punter seems solid.

What? The UF defense looks slow and small. What the hell were you watching?

Wait, maybe this was sarcasm.

They didn't look slow to me at all. They moved around faster in first half than WVU did at any point IMO

They looked worn down in the 2nd half though. They don't have the depth they're accustomed to.

I hope UF continues doing what they are doing at least through the end of the month. Wow - they are a mess.

Taylor, Thompson, and Banks are stars of the future. Warrior was better as was DKJr. Even Fant looked better than London. Jordan still needs to learn his role better and trust the blocking, but can be a good #3 if he does. The O-line looked better with Chance Hall at RG. Was so good to see him out there getting more snaps. D-line is still a work in progress. Kongbo appears to be a bust.

Going to rewatch today to focus on the line play on both sides. Love that they have another week with a lesser opponent to work on things and get better before the SEC gauntlet starts. The opponent was not much this week, but even with that you could clearly see some guys getting better after the storm break.

Some initial thoughts before watching the film:

  1. I thought our WRs did a much better job blocking Saturday. In the first game I dubbed them I-mates because they only seem to give effort when they were the intended target. That appears to have been corrected. This week they played as teammates.
  2. Jeremy Banks ain’t skeered. I’ve noticed if Jordan can see another man on the other side of the hole he goes into I-mate mode, avoids the hole and tries to run around everybody. Sometimes it works but it’s not what we’re trying to do. Banks sees a guy on the other side of the hole and he runs him the truck over.
  3. A number of people suggested (including on Vol Calls) that we came out flat last week after the weather delay. The staff took measures to ensure that didn’t happen this week. Kudos to the staff.
  4. Game balls go to Kyle Phillips (All American Volleyball Player), Marquill Osborne (who CJP apparently ripped into in warmups), Bryce Thompson, Darrin Kirkland Jr, Marquez Callaway, Josh Palmer, Jordan Murphy, and Jeremy “ain’t no whoa in me” Banks.

Everybody thinking Vandy is an easy out for us this year are in for a rude surprise. They look well coached and sound. We are probably equals right now "all things considered"...I just puked in my mouth a little 🤮 I despise Byotch Jones so much for this situation, I put this ALL on him. I can't wait till Pruitt restores the natural order of things.
I remember after 2 weeks last year the talking heads in Nashville questioning if bama would even be able to score against candy’s defense......

Preston Williams just annihilated arky. I like him more in hindsight when I see now just how bad Butch was. Hard to blame a guy for getting out of that.

To be fair, Butch tried to feed him early in a couple of games to keep him interested. The fumble in the red zone against Arkansas in 2015 was a killer. Everyone wants to blame Butch for not getting the ball to a half dozen players yet their is one football. Not saying he was a good coach, but it’s easy to pile on now.

Favorite part was the interview with Coach Fulmer. Talked about Pruitt being tough on the team but also hugging their neck as well. He ain't afraid to chew some butt on live tv lol.
