What did Kaepernick really “sacrifice”? His career was on the downturn and he started this protest. If he had been the same player that propelled the Niners to the SB and NFC Championship Game in back to back seasons? He opted out of his contract and subsequently isn’t garnering backup money but is litigating to get starters money in damages and he had this Nike contract as a parachute all along. Pat Tillman had worked his way up to a NFL starter and up and dropped it all to volunteer to go to war...only to be killed in a friendly fire snafu. He’d reject using his name to hawk hoof covers but he SACRIFICED.

We give each other a lot of ****, but in this case... Well said Butchna.

JJ is coming of shoulder surgery from all American game injury. I assume that affected his training. One of those you wish you had your hands on him in your program earlier to progress faster in recovery than relying on HS coach to keep up with a graduated student.

Based on the type of athlete he is. It probably won't take him too long to get back in physical shape. Mental shape is the hard part

no sht, they have 8 year olds making shoelaces in Bangladesh for 30 cents a day

but jeez what a logical jump you've made to oversimplify a nuanced discussion with "Nike wants more money derpderp"
Brotha gotta eat tho.

He mos
Did he not sacrifice while growing up to achieve his goal of playing in the nfl? Which is the overall message of the ad. They also didn't show any clips of him playing or mention him sacrificing. He's narrating. People who can't see past the person narrating are missing some pretty incredible stories imo.

Edit: there is no point in the ad where the message is about sacrificing anyone's career.

He must of had it so bad growing up.... His parents were white and had money.... Other than sacrificing his time and energy to play a sport.... I dunno what he sacrificed.

The reason I don’t buy Nike shoes is because they care more about quantity than quality. It definitely shows up in their product. Nike is basically Walmart quality with fantastic advertising.

I totally agree. The quality of Nike's apparel has been subpar for the past decade. For athletic shoes, I'll go with New Balance. They're made in America, and have always been great quality. They're great for both road and trail running.

exploiting? Seriously?

Your definition of exploitation is seriously lacking. Pat Tillman is a hero. HE sacrificed EVERYTHING. Colin Kaperdick is a whiner who sacrificed the backside of an NFL career.
His wife said it was and for conservatives to stop bringing his name up. But go ahead and keep disrespecting the wishes of his wife and family for your own purpose.

She can say whatever the hell she wants, and that doesn't make it valid. If I choose to hold up a true hero in this day and age, and that is deemed disrespect, then call me disrespectful. I will always have far more respect for PT than ANY athlete that is currently walking the earth.

But it is a military thing, you wouldn't understand.

I wouldn’t want a family member being talked about either.

Doesn’t change the fact that one, Tillman, sacrificed everything and the other, Kaepernick, sacrificed nothing.

Kap gives up millions. People who would kill for an extra 20k a year, " He sacrificed nothing."

🤣😂🙃

How did he give it up? He’s suing for allegedly lost money. Lmao

And I’m sure he’s doing this Nike bit for free! Hahahahahahahahaha.
Why would he be doing Nike for free? He already had a contract. He missed out on football contract money he definitely would have received.

Suing. Because he missed out on it. Duh.

From who? He opted out of a contract and is now crying about not getting one from somewhere else, cries collusion against him so he sues......

So again, what has he sacrificed?

Now, he can put his money where his mouth is and become a cop. That would be something.

I admire you looking for a positive meaning, but the other examples in that ad should have stood on their own. He didn’t belong in it imo. When he references “sacrifice everything”, I don’t see his struggles to wake up in the morning to go to practice in the same vein as a kid born with a congenital defect in his hand. We’re supposed to connect all that with him showing his butt after he started sucking at football...and I refuse. No hate on your take...please respect my right to mine.

She’ll forgive the masses that admire him...someday. Bringing the “keep disrespecting” and “for your own purpose” slant towards people that honor him is up there on your biggest bs stretches.

Shouldn't we honor the wishes of fallen service members and their loved ones?

Nah, eff em. Let's just use them for a political argument instead and crap on what they fought for like the right to protest. Good stuff.🙃

The Nike ad itself was great. The person they chose to deliver the message could have been much better.

No doubt..... he made the ultimate sacrifice
