Not upset about it, but I do wish he would have let him throw it once. Seemed pointless to make the change just for three handoffs.

Someone please tell me what positions Abernathy and Flowers played yesterday???

I thought Flowers was at safety and Abernathy at nickel(star) but a number of post have me questioning myself on that

They might have moved around a bit during the game, but Flowers was at safety most of the game. He was single high safety on the PBU he had and was definitely at safety on the TD from the corner blitz.

Agree. The reason the secondary looked so bad is because Grier wasn’t in danger at all. He was able to pick apart our secondary with ease. In order to protect the young secondary you need a pass rush. If we don’t find a way to pressure the QB we won’t win many games moving forward. If Grier was under pressure regularly the game would have been very different.

Not saying we do or will have a good pass rush but it’s hard to get there in less than 2 seconds, which was about how long it was taking Grier to get the ball out. It takes both to have a good pass defense. Pass rush has to get there but those secondary guys have to cover somebody a little bit to let the line do work.

I'm trying to do a play by play game summary but keeping myself engaged is a struggle.

Play 1 – 1st &10 Kennedy completely whiffs on Bigelow and Guarantano pays the price
Play 2 – 2nd & 20 Slant to MC – no other option – broken up
Play 3 – 3rd & 20 WV rushes 7 guys filling every gap and Helton wants Chandler to run the ball – not happening
Play 4 – 4th & 24 Punt to our own 46 yard line.

Heard postgame that Kennedy didn't whiff, wasn't his fault. The RG was supposed to pick that guy up. It was from either CJP or Doug Matthews maybe, or both.

I think I saw somewhere that Shamburger was in on special teams, but got a big goose egg snapwise on defense. I’d hope he’s suspended/in the doghouse because if not there’s no excuse for not plugging him in for Abernathy in the 2nd half.

I am not doubting that or saying that I am just stating that they were wide open if he keeps the ball. Also not directed at you but just happen to be at this spot of conversation that we as fans need to realize just how many young inexperienced players who were hurt, in high school (juco) or may not even had playing time were being utilized. Wv played no true freshman and they are a mature older team. I wish this game was next yr not this yr and I am paying for it and will too we beat there ass in basketball this yr. I was at the game and live in wv but wore my orange in the wv section and they were upset and surprised at half time, granted I know we have to play 2 halves. Do not throw in the towel yet

I love the Vols just as much as you do. How about you ignore me and leave me alone. I don't have any agenda to bring people down. I have been honest about things, and I have said nothing about the team that has not been said by many others that love the Vols.

Yea. It was Shamburger early on. But Flowers is so talented and athletic he moved to safety and put ab at the star.

Even with a recent, questionable, coaching change, LSU has such talent and consistent S&C that above average QB play has them looking like a juggernaut.

It would take a couple years to have the program running that well again, but I can’t wait to see UT in this position again.
