Gray wasn’t a 5 star. But the last staff did seem to struggle recruiting good players in the secondary. Gaulden would have helped though.

I think they recruited ok on offense- just didn’t develop them last year.

My point was just that after 5yrs with the same coach and supposedly decent recruiting, there should have been better-developed talent out on the field playing today, then we actually saw.

Statements like this are ridiculous.
Ok..I'll bite..explain to me how it is ridiculous...

We just got destroyed..we lost by 4...freaking 4 TDs...

Now go on..change my mind..I swear I want somebody to. I want to see hope that this roster can turn it around and play decent team football..I'll be happy with decent..That would be a monumental improvement..
Four freaking TDs...smh.

“They are a solid team,” Spavital said of Tennessee following the game. “You can see that he (Pruitt) is going to turn that program around. He just needs a little more time”

Spavital said that West Virginia being a mature team played a difference in the game.

“We were a very mature team that came into this game,” he said. “Where Coach Pruitt’s at, he is very sound and a tough defense and caught us off-guard in the first half.

“If they keep playing complimentary football, it’s going to be a tough team to beat because they minimized our possessions at the beginning. Once that happens, they can run away with a lot of games.”

Well, the problem with last year was development and play calling. If they call a run play against UF last year, they win.

The former staff recruited ok on offense. Chandler, Callaway, Jennings are all good players. Guarantano, Palmer, and Jordan showed today that they can be good players. The OL was just poorly developed.

The defense seems to be behind. Lack of depth on DL, and the recruiting lagged in the secondary. Gaulden could have helped today.

I think offensively they're better. I think JG is much improved. I think the defense is about the same despite having some injured players back. That surprised me a bit.
We put 14 points on a garbage defense..I get what your saying about the positives..but...14..

I will get in even more trouble with everybody here if I say what I really think about this defense..🤮 I know I feel bad for Pruitt, he can probably not comprehend a whole squad full guys with this lack of...How can I say it best?....Wantoittiveness..

Honestly, it's not worth the effort to talk you off the ledge. Go ahead and jump.

Again - we will know how much they have improved after the UF game. But playing guys on D who are clearly not good enough and have not been able to get it done for multiple seasons will insure delays in developing better, younger players. If they do beat UF, the odds of 7-5 or better go up considerably. If not they are staring at 5-7 or 6-6.
