We all have bad feelings about that play because of butch, but it is not inherently a bad play. It can be useful. The problem with butch was he refused to do anything else. We may see that play on the goal line. But it won't be every time. And yes Helton will probably have a lot of Brohm in his system (which also is far more advanced and diverse than butch's), but also a lot of his brothers pro style. And I don't think the offense will be completely designed by Helton either. I think he will call the plays and lead the design, but Friend will have a lot of say in the design and game plan incorporating a lot of the power run and deep passing you saw at CSU with Mike Bobo. And I would imagine Joe O. will get some of his downfield RPO concepts incorporated as well. My point I guess is we may see a play like that on the goal line, but we will also see a wide variety of formations and personnel. We will likely see the qb under center, in shotgun and even in pistol. We will see goal line packages and spread concepts. There will be multiple Newt points. I think this offense will be difficult for the defenses to key into due to it's variety and versatility. IMO.

sox fans....they just were annoying. cubs fans knew they were the loveable losers, and i think were genuinely excited about what they accomplished of late. sox fans, it felt more like "we deserved this". only thing i will say about the red sox, is that alcs come back against the yankees was epic. i'll give them that. it was more impressive, imo, than any WS victory they've had.

Boston was also worse because it was in all the sports at the same time. Red Sox, Celtics and Pats all went from pretty meh to winning championships all at the same time.

i also don't think Purdue has very many good players aside from that running back....he's pretty darn good.

i will say this, when Purdue scored the TD get it to 31-24, they were lined up on the 1 or 2, and in a shot gun spread formation.

i cringed a little at the thought of that ever being a possibilty again in KNO.

I actually don't mind shotgun at the 1 or 2 yard line as long as you have a mobile QB. It puts an immense out of pressure on the defense. Dobbs was virtually unstoppable near the goal line from shotgun. If your QB is Worley or Dormady though it's really dumb.

another good point, but agian, does personnel or match ups dictate that play(in your example, it does)? or are we just trying to trick the defense with our "system"....

Around 28 hours boys and girls, thats all we have left until we get the first true glimpse of what the Pruitt era will hold. I tried to remain calm all off season and not get my hopes up for this opener but i cant do it anymore. I refuse to be afraid of the 4th best team in the 5th best power 5 conference. My friends are calling me crazy for having hope and thinking we can win this game. "You're just going to get let down and be upset" But heres the thing, im still upset when we lose to Bama every year. I dont care who the opponent is, it still hurts no matter how i try to temper expectations. So why not? Why not have some confidence? Why not think we can win? Whats the worst that will happen? We lose to a top 25 opponent with a "Heisman Contender" QB whos favored by 10 at a neutral site? Big effing deal. This game is win-win for us. Lose- we were supposed to anyway. Win- and we are the talk of college football for a week. (Barring an insane ACTUAL upset like FAU over Okie, which seems like a Kiffin thing to do, steal our thunder and twist the knife again) I just refuse to not be positive and confident going into this game. We only get 13 weeks of Vol football each year. Why waste it being a pessimist? #WGWTFA Vols 34-White Trash Michigan- 27

I'm pretty confident in both he and Abernathy playing well and in Micahs case, showing a lot of improvement if theyve played well enough to bury TKjr to 3rd string. I mean Kelly is no all-star, but hes been a consistent and adequate starter for a couple years and has made several big plays. For him to already be behind them both they have to be playing pretty damn well right?
