I'll go against the grain here and say the win total doesn't and shouldn't matter. We've seen awful USC and Mizzou teams follow up "promising" 7-8 win seasons with more mediocrity and then have predictions state those same teams have peaked and have no chance at winning a championship.

The difference between a 6,7, and 8 win team is most of the team neglible when talking about talent. It's just as easy to envision a 8 win season and have little confidence going into next season as winning 6 games and think we found the coach of the future.

We are in a situation where no matter what we are basically in that tier of football teams for 2 years. I don't think it should be used as an excuse but as a reason to enjoy real football on the hill for once and as Pruitt says "quit putting your head in front of your toes" and play football

Of course, I don't hate u for your opinions. I was just saying your posts have been negative lately and that's why u have been catching hell. I understand where u are coming from, it has been a tough 10 years or so. I just plan on giving this team and coach a chance to play a couple of games, before I doubt them at all. Of course, I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to UT football, although it hasn't done me much good lately. I think we hired the right coach and have enough talent to turn it around, right now. No, I don't think we can win the SEC East, but I do think we can win 8 games and anything less than 6 wins will be disappointing, at least, to me. That may be crazy, but like I said, eternal optimist

That isn't the way it goes most of the time however..It almost always turns into a lynch mob where the angry, disgusted and disappointed mob is out for blood.
McGill, who in the hell are you hanging out with, man? You need to find some better Vol buddies.

Pruitt is going to kill it tomorrow. I love he didn't allow youth to be an excuse. Most coaches latch on to a gimme like that from the media.

Buckle up boys Pruitt doesn't know where the brake pedal is or how to use it.

Three things so far have amazed me about Pruitt relative to other recent UT coaches and other new coaches I’ve observed from afar at other schools:

1. No transfers after spring
2. Not once has he publicly bashed the “lack of talent on the roster”
3. He appears fearless and completely natural as a first time HC - no nerves, excuses, etc.

Those make him fairly unique in my mind.

That was a bad play, but they really lost the game in the first half when they gave up 31 points and did not take care of the ball.
oh, i know. but to get back in to the game, and you actually make the play you have to make on defense to get the ball back and give yourself a legit shot at winning.

to have it end like that...blah. ugly.
